    Post

Just checking if my new username is working.

    Nana -

How is he with other people? For example, if left with your mother? Sorry if you have been asked this question before. I would love for you to cook for me. You are a chef after all. I am still jealous of your partner. He must be eating like a King. Nana, they love books at this stage of their life. Lol. Tastes good to them I can't stop Yasmeenia. DD enjoys her walker also. Especially when he are outside, the front yard or the backyard. She wears her hat. She needs sunglasses soon. I hate Perth - the weather! After playing outside with her walker, she comes back hungry and tired. Lol. From all that running and making noises. She sometimes goes near the plants, pulls it off and eats it. I totally forgot to saying - you are moving to what? Paris? Wow. That's a big decision to make. I can't imagine living outside Australia although I once lived in New Zealand as a child.

    Bec -

She has been sleeping with me since she was 6 months. She has yet to fall off the bed. She has fallen off the coach twice, nothing serious. But it scared the hell out of me. She doesn't move around much. She does like to have her own space but doesn't want me too far. Right now she is sleeping on our bed. I always check on it often. Tonight she went to sleep a bit late because she had a very long nap today 3 hours! She normally sleeps for two hours during the day.

I am off to bed. It's almost midnight.

The latest from DP is that he wants to move to Africa. Ghana, to be specific. I'm so tired I just don't care right now, and DP is so pi$$ed off that I seem so ungrateful about him wanting to have a better life for us. Um, whatever. I'm tired. Aadi climbed out of the cot and crashed into me sleeping on the floor last night. I don't want to think about moving to Africa, where there is never going to be the sort of specialist help this kid is going to obviously need. Yeah, there might be cleaners and cooks, but paediatricians and family members I actually know or trust? Not likely. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't win!

Girl - or whoever you are now - my mother is 2500km away in Qld. And she is so hyper and manic that I actually told her not to come stay with us. I know she means well and would like to help, but the simple fact is Aadi doesn't know how to stay asleep and nobody can help with that, it seems.

The name change did not work.

Okay the name change didn't work so I am not going to bother. Lol@Ghana. I feel for you Nana. I totally forgot your mother was in Queensland. I did remember you mentioning that before.

    Sassy -

Girl it take a few days, maybe even a week i think.

Sass - Hamish goes to be at 7 usually, 7.30pm at the latest and he wakes between 7 and 7.30am. he has a morning sleep for about 1 and 1/2 hours and the same in the afternoon.

NaNa - i cant begin to imagine what you are going through without having to think about moving to Africa omg that is major. I have no advice for you but wish things would get better for you *hugs*..

um, AF came today And Aadi only napped 20 minutes this morning and THAT'S IT! Screamed in public, threw tantrums at my friend's place, but acted like a total angel at playgroup so they still don't understand why I look so haggard or believe me when I tell them all these horror stories about my nights... is this my payback for not having morning sickness?

mis: there are 2 threads in the diet and weightloss section. the one that just says duromine has become our little support group.
Jayda was sleeping through perfectly but latly she has been waking up a few times usually it is a few pats and she is back down but over the weekend we were up at 3 for a play for 2 hrs.

nana: i know wat u mean about no one realising wat ur goign through because they act like angels around other people. i have a challenging boy that comes here and his mum is about to go insane cause everyone loves him and thinks the sun shine out of his bum. he is alot better for me but still challenging. after lunch when the kids r playing outside my nana comes out and sits with us and she thinks she is perfect and thinks i pick on him lol.
lol about the pay back for ms. i got my Af like a week after i stopped bleeding from the birth so i def got payback for somethign lol. i was actually thinkin the other day it would be preg again so i woudlnt have to put up with it lol.

abb: wow lucky u. jayda is 830 to bed 630 to 7 rise and we get just under a hr sleep at lunch time and if we r lucky she might have another 30min one in the arvo.

i got some soy milk gonna try her on that today. DH doesnt think it is the cows milk but. cause she is fine with it during hte day but if it goes in her night bottle she screams all night. and i mean like 30mls if that. but ill see how she goes with the soy. poor bub it tastes like poo lol.

omg these tabs r great. i got up this morning done nearly 30min on the tread mill with actual running in it lol. then 10min on the weights and now i feel like i coudl do it all over again. cleaned up the kitchen. yesterday i got 2 garbage bags full of stuff to chuck out of the daycare room. dunno where it all came from it still looks like a mess. its that bad Dh is takin stuff to work to put in the skip cause our bin is so full lol.

i was thinkin of changing my user name but i would prob confuse myself thinking y is that chick copying everythign i write lol. plus i am sassy123 on other things i am a member too so it is easy to remember.

    No sleeping through here tracy.

NaNa- i really worry bout u hun... i know what i went through and it sounds like your going through the same if not worse... Why dont u ask DP to move to sydney... then i can come give u a break hun,... lol. Also wondering... is Aadi screaming when he wakes??? could he have an underlying issue perhaps??? not saying it is this but a friend of mine just found out her boy has a hernia... no symptoms except no sleeping waking up screaming, always sooky demanding he's 13 months and they just found out. poor bubs had been in pain and discomfort... since getting fixed up he's an angel... we've just been to the paediatric chiropractor, and Aadi had an adjustment. His neck was quite stiff and sore, and there was a vertebrae a bit out of place right near the nerve centre in the brain stem that governs sleep. Hmmmm.... could have been like that from birth, but fortunately it hasn't affected BF or development, which is often the case in that sort of problem. What the chiro said made a lot of sense, especially in that often when kids have a sore neck (and no vocal skills to communicate it), they'll keep moving a lot when they're awake as it helps ease the pain. Well, Aadi never stops moving! And also, since he's most probably in pain when he's been lying still while sleeping, when he reaches the end of a sleep cycle instead of moving into the next one and staying asleep, he feels discomfort and wakes up screaming and quite often moving. He is often crawling and standing before he's actually awake, and tends to bang into the end of the cot in his hurry to get somewhere with his eyes closed! Anyway, I feel a lot of relief after talking to this doctor, and hopefully Aadi will too. We have a couple of follow-up appointments, but we'll be monitoring how things go over the next few days for signs of improvement. Fingers crossed. I would hate to find that he has a hernia or anything internal requiring surgery, since DP had surgery to repair a hernia in October the year before last and he was a terrible sook about it! The GP has already checked for that, tho, so it's ok.

Mis - about the possibly inherited mania... yes, it's possible. And on top of that, both my dad and DP's dad are intense, hyper people too. DP and I are the odd ones out in our families, in that we're quiet, placid, and in my case anyway, sensible! My mum's just a bit of a basket case, and needs to be perpetually doing things and busy, and if she feels like a martyr then that's even better. I hope, tho, that Aadi is like his father in that he was a monsta child until about 3, then calmed down dramatically. Oh, but that was the age he moved to Africa... crap. Scratch that!

I got 5 txt messages from friends to watch Insight on SBS last night. It was about sleep, or what the lack of it does to you. So I watched it (so rarely watch tv anymore). I found it interesting to hear from a doctor at Westmead that sleep deprivation in small children can often present as ADHD symptoms. No advice though! oh well. that what we're doing will work soon.

Hope you're all having a toasty warm day. It's icy here.

NaNa i that this is why Aadi is not sleeping and it may very well be. I have been taking Hamish to the chiro since 8 weeks and i think she has been fantastic. Hopefully it sorts things out for you. I was just thinking the first time i took him we went home he had a feed and slept for 4 or 5 hours and i was worried but apparently it is normal and i hope Aasdi has a big sleep for you and continues to do so. If not well there was no harm in trying hey.
Mis T - yay on no top ups, the expressing is obviously boosting your supply. Hamish sleeps 11 to 12 hours every night, i am blessed i know and feel bad about writing how good a sleeper he is and wonder sometimes if it will jinx it.. How did stanks go at fdc?
Sass - glad the diet is going well for you. Yes we are lucky with the sleep.
Jess - I hope Tiahna feels better soon. I didn't know you can get the amber necklaces for adults, i also suffer from sore neck, might look into it.
Bec - How is work going? I know it must feel weird to be back after not working for a long time. I am sure you will be fine and Cam will enjoy day care.
Nikki - how is the tablets going? Are you getting any sleep with them?

    Hi to everyone else.
AFM we had Hamish's photo's done professionaly today, dont get them back for a few weeks but i think they will be good, he was very happy and smiled and laughed so much, the ladies loved him and he certainly turned on the charm as usual. He is 11 months today i just cant believe how fast this year has gone. Have done his invites for his party and ordered the cake from my aunty so thats it for awhile, have couple of other birthdays to do before hand. Ok best be off.

    Nana -

It's great to hear about that. Finally your poor little man will become a better sleeper. The poor darling.

    Question:

Is anyone giving their DD/DS a flu vaccination? I am going to the OB at our local GP and talk to him/her about the flu vaccination. DD is always sick once she starts doing to daycare. I think I will be getting it to myself.

I might not be online for at least a week. I have two assignments due next week Friday. Wish me good luck ladies. Bye for now

i had a training session last ngiht on child development and it was the first training session in a long time that i actually come out understanding and felt that i learnt somethign important. usually they sit there and read out stuff in the same tired and not bothered to be there kinda tone and everythign starts to blend in together and i stop listening lol. so it was good last night. got a few tips on how to sor out well try to sort out one of the daycare kids. and also about w sitting. which jayda does all the time. where they r on their bum with their legs behind there back if that makes sense. it is ment to be really bad for hips and knees. i am tryin to move her to legs out the front or crossed everytime i see her to it and she is starting to grunt at me now to leave her alone lol

no good news, I'm afraid. Last night was worse than ever. He went to bed at 7 as usual, screamed at 9.30, as usual, then went back to sleep until just before midnight. It was DP's turn to camp out, and he was so fed up with trying to resettle Aadi between midnight and 3am that he just let him scream from 3am onwards. Our neighbours must hate us. I hate us! Anyway, after a while I couldn't take the screaming anymore, and I don't know how DP was handling it being right next to Aadi the whole time. I went in and got Aadi out of the cot, changed his nappy and gave him a small dose of Pain Stop. I then brought him in to my bed and gave him a feed to try and calm him down and get him to stop screaming for a minute. He had a feed then kept screaming and kicking me for another hour before finally going off to sleep at 5.45. He slept until 7.15...
So after breakfast and playtime, he starts getting tired as usual around 9.30, so I try to put him down for a nap, but he just wanted to feed and suck and suck and wouldn't go to sleep. After half an hour of mucking around I had enough, put him in his cot and left him to scream while I had breakfast and vacuumed to drown out the horrible noise. I got him up out at 11 and tried to calm him down again. He just wouldn't be held, but kept screaming at me if I put him down and trying to climb up my legs. He calmed down enough to try lunch, but spat it everywhere and screamed at me some more while I cleaned everything up. I have just now managed to feed him off to sleep at 1, and I tell you, my back is breaking from the weight of this feeling, and my heart is breaking from all this screaming and the fact that nothing I do is helping this boy sleep. DP tells me to take him out for a walk but I am too tired to push the monster in the pram, let alone put shoes/hat/scarf/gloves/coat on both of us right now. It's sunny but freezing.

    Hi All,

Just a quick one, as I'm ready for bed now.

I did my first day back at work today, though didn't really do much as my access to everything didn't update by lunch time as expected and after a few phone calls it turns out it is overnight...so I just hung back and watched others. It felt strange being part time though, I felt like I was running late in the morning and then sneaking off early in the arvo.

We had some professional photos done the other weekend (they were ready to see today) that was organised by the childcare centre - it was a charity thing, where we got 1 photo in a frame for $15...well when we we're there, the photographer also took othe shots and we had the choice of buying or not. Well of course once you see them you can't refuse, so we bought the set - $199 all up. But I think it was worth it...I hope. (not sure what the cost of professional photos should cost).

Cam's good...didn't sleep to well at kindy today though, apparently another kid woke all of them up after 20mins, poor carer - so he was a little grumpy tonight - but boy I missed him today, so I didn't mind the grumbles at all.

Somebody asked how long our bubs sleep.... well I'm sorry to say that Cam is also another good sleeper...we put him down about 7.30pm, and he wakes about 6.30am (give or take 30mins). Though he lately he has stirred about 3 and 4am (sometimes needs a little settling) but usually goes back down til the 6.30am.

Also regarding the flu vaccination...no i won't get Cam done. I would never get it done myself - kinda had a bad experience with it - my Nana had a flu shot - was as healthy as she could be at the time, a few days later got the flu...turned to broncitis (sp), turned into pneuomia (sp) and within 2weeks she was gone - this was back in 1996 - but I still can't bring myself to have it done myself.

Well that's all from me for now, sorry I don't have time for personals.

    Bye for now,

Post My princess is not gaining

Most of the babies are not sleeping well. I must be blessed. But she woke up at 5:15am this morning, she has done that for the past few days which is fine by me.

Ladies I am worried. DD weighs 8.6kg. I had her weighed yesterday and it is a shock and disappointment for me because her weight has not increased. At 6-7 months she was 8.2kg. She is 11 months now. I am sick of hearing new CHN saying she looks great and the OB yesterday saying I was worrying for nothing because she is well-cared for, loved and nurtured and is happy. That's not the point! She hasn't gained! Not much anyways. Obviously I am not going to compare DD to other babies here but I am wondering if other bubs are like her; not gaining much. I miss my old OB and CHN

    Bec -

Am jealous. I will be getting our professional photos after my exam. The OB advised against DD having the flu vaccination. But I went ahead and had it done myself. I can't afford to be sick now or anytime from next month. I always wanted to get vaccinated but didn't bother. I had to explain to him it wasn't I feared the swine flu, Lol. By the way, it sounded like you were relaxing at work on your first day back.

    Nana -

You must be stuck at home. Melbourne is too cold to go anywhere especially yesterday. It was the coldest I heard. My sisters, cousins, etc are always complaining about the weather and how cold it is. I would give anything to live in Melbourne and its weather. Love it! It's always above 23 degrees here and average 25. So its fairly warm but am wearing a jacket now because its windy and cold but the sun is out at least.
