J hasn't had to have any panadol, bonjella etc etc for her teeth ever & she has eight so far. If I wasn't convinced before after the last week I absolutely am. She has worn it for a long time & last week her eczema was flaring on her neck so I thought it would be ok to take it off. She had it off for four days & we had horrible horrible nights, to the point where she was getting to sleep at anywhere between 3am & 5am. I put it back on & she has only woken 3-4 times & was easy to get back to sleep (blanket pulled up & dummy put in) which is totall normal for her.
I'm not sure if she is teething as such at the moment, but whatever it's doing, it is absolutely working for her.
I got mine off ebay for around $25 inc postage, but most people will recommend Amber Bebe. Amber Bebe are more expensive & to be honest I didn't go with them because I wasn't convinced enough to pay the extra! There are stacks of places that sell them, TiggerLinda has them in her store sometimes too. The one thing you have to make sure of is that it needs to be BALTIC AMBER, not just any sort of amber.
Try buy4baby. I'm waiting for one from there. Everyone has praised them to me. so hoping they work!
By the time it comes DS will probably have all his teeth though, after having only 6 for 10 whole months he's suddenly cut about 4!!!
As mrsmac said, we have one for Sam - he cut his first two teeth simultaneously during church one morning and the only clue we'd had that he was even teething at all was that he'd been off his food for the previous week. Didn't figure it out until later, though. He has had grizzles and pain when his teeth move around, but it appears that Sam takes after his mother and has a shocking time with teething, so anything that helps is good in my book.
What mrsmac didn't tell you is that I also wear one myself. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and figure that anything that's meant to help pain and inflammation is bound to help... I can tell you in absolute and definite certainty that they DO work, and damned well at that. Mine arrived when I was in the middle of a bad flare and I was experiencing pain relief within an hour of putting it on. I don't take mine off now - ever.
I have been wondering about these, too...I hadn't heard of them until recently. Is there a high risk of strangulation? That would be my main concern - having something constantly around bub's neck....
Kim my name is Kirstie and i was in your belly buddies group last year (recently changed my user name), i just wanted to say that i've just gotten a teething necklace for DS2 also and although i can't swear by it as yet (no teeth so far) i'm looking forward to seeing the effect it will have. It's reassuring to hear what the girls have said about them. I got my necklace from sunshine 'n' lollipops for $27 inc postage. There are a lot out there to choose from once you look and it can get quite confusing.
I put it on DS when i recieved it and haven't taken it off since.
Becs_bubs there are some out there that have a magnetic clasp so if caught will come off without any accidents happening.
Good luck with finding one and hopefully it'll help your little man with his gums.
(Just posted this in another thread whilst googling for research into amber for a friend of mine, but it's as true here as it is there *lol*)
Both of my children wear amber for analgesic purposes, and I can't rate it highly enough.
I was open to the idea when I stumbled upon it in desperation when I was googling remedies for my daughter's molars, it was a horrible time for her
My husband thought I might as well throw $30 into the heavens, but he is a complete convert now We agreed to rate her symptoms after 24 and 48hrs of wearing it, and both fully agreed she is a different kid with her necklace on! She cut her next two molars with FAR less drama
I have started buying all my daughter's little friends necklaces for their birthdays (2yo molars are EVIL!), and I even have a bracelet on my 4month old son. I noticed he was less grumpy after his recent injections when wearing it, and he'll wear a necklace too when he starts teething.
And I have a nursing necklace mainly for looks, but apparently it can assist with breastfeeding and prevention of mastitis too? Not too sure on that one because I have never had any problems prior to amber, but I get a lot of compliments on the piece
We bought our stuff from bambeado and got a 10% discount with the code "matesrates", bambeado have no problem with me sharing the code either just for references sake
