| | What is your favourite sling/carrier?
Thought I would start a poll to see what everyone's favourite carrier is. Obviously we haven't tried them all, but if you vote for the one you love, we'll have a good idea!!!

Too hard!! They all have their place.
I love my ergo for sheer ease of use and convenience. But you can't beat the HAB for newborns.

I agree they all have their place but I chose Hug a Bub (for the first few months) and the Ergo which I simply cannot live without now bubs is 11 kg and growing. I can also put my 14 kg toddler in if need be.
The ring sling is great for keeping in the nappy bag for quick trips but to be honest I feel like I can't do alot of things wearing bubs in it, although I know many swear by them from birth to toddlerhood

I have a 100 Knots sling. I find that it's fantastic as I can use the front, hip or back carry, depending on the circumstance and the weight of the child. I've even carried my 5 year old home in it after he stacked on the pavement. It was much less traumatic than trying to get him to walk home by himself.

I loooved the HAB when Maya was little. I first used it when she was 4-5 days old and then used it every day. She always fell asleep within minutes of going in it. It saved my sanity in the first few months. I still use it when I need to go to work. She just sleeps while I work on the computer. I now use the Ergo for most outings, though. It's just so quick and easy to use. And she loves it in there.
I love both slings and don't regret buying either of them. They are both on the pricey side, but I found they're worth their weight in gold. Much more practical than any pram (and they cost a whole lot more).

Are Ergo's easy to use? I have found them on special for $110 including express post (down from $149) and am considering purchasing one, I have a VERY unsettled almost 7mo and he weighs 9.5kg. Is it going to be comfy? Can I put it on easily by myself? I have a HAB but didn't even use it once cos I couldn't tie it up by myself. All help would be greatly appreciated!

I looked at the prices of the HUB,,, and found a great website,,, for babywearing, where the mums had posted sewing patterns for all the different baby slings.
The HUB style pattern didnt even require any sewing at all,, just the length, and width needed to be cut to the right length. For the width of the material though,, i was able to cut a total of 3 slings from the one piece. So, all up,, I got 3 HUB style slings for a grand total of $24,,, not bad huh lol.

Pouch wasn't there so I voted 'other'. I loved my pouch and ring sling. A friend let me borrow her Ergo but I found it wasn't a great fit for me (I'm shortish). I'd like to try something different, perhaps a Patapum which I think might be a better fit (tried one on but haven't given one a proper trial run).

HAB was too complicated for me. Am sure it's great but it was taking longer to get on than getting where I wanted to go plus I think it's a rip-off for a bit of jersey cotton. So I got the Baby Bjorn which is also expensive (but I can see that there would be some manufacturing costs in there with all the clippy things) and is a breeze to get on. Am not mad about it but it's main advantage for me is it takes two seconds to get on and I have the peace of mind of knowing that DD is very secure and is not going to slip out.

I have a red castle carrier. It's great because it can be adjusted to carry the baby on the front or hips. You can also breast feed while bub is still in it which is quick and gives a bit of privacy!

I have the Ergo and the Hug-a-Bub. My HUB arrived yesterday, and after a quick early (unusual) grizzle this morning, I quickly watched the instructional DVD, tied it and chucked Savannah in. Half an hour later... she is SNORING in it! And I'm typing this post two handed!
I like the Ergo, but think it will be better for us once she's a bit bigger.

I have a BabyBjorn and a ring sling. I love them both. I used the ring sling when DD was a newborn, then I changed to the BabyBjorn, and now that DD is bigger and can hold herself up, etc, we're back to using the ring sling. It's so easy and versatile. I voted for both, as they both have their place. |

I couldn't bring myself to post because I love all mine. And I keep getting new ones that I love...but I figure I'll just update as we travel along, especially as the new baby comes...perhaps for me, this thread should be called 'What is your favourite sling/carrier...at the moment?'
Right now it's my pouch, it folds up small enough to go in the nappy bag and when my arms suddenly get tired from holding the kiddo, I just pop it on and he's supported on my hip! It's really easy to use too. Looking forward to seeing how the new baby likes being cradled in it.
Before that though, I was in love with my Mei Tai, because the back carry's like a hands free piggyback, grouse for shopping, and Riv invariably falls asleep in it - which doesn't happen in the pram because he's too worried he's missing out on something.
(We've also recently acquired a CatBirdBaby 'Pikkolo' - soft structured carrier perhaps a bit like the Ergo (only I like the Pikkolo's features better) - and I have a feeling I will loooove this one once my belly's out of the way. It's manly enough for dh to wear, and Riv seems super comfy in it.)
So that's now, I'll pop back in awhile and tell you all my new flavours of the month another time. |

i used a Babybjorn years ago, but I am getting a newer model from my sister - i think they would have to be my favourite - there are so many on the market now- but i worry about the sling carriers as i reckon the baby might slip out.
