Hi,
i am comp feeding my 3 week old daughter. And am worried as a little while after feeding she vomits and also sneezes milk out of her nose. She is burped before being put down but this doesnt seem to help as she still brings up milk.
This has only started a few days ago and i am worried, should i take her to a GP?

Congrats on your little bundle of joy
Throat and nose are all connected, unless it was projectile type vomiting I wouldn't worry about it - some babies posset ALOT (my DD) and some not at all (my DS2). If she is still sleeping well, nappies are fine, colour is good and is generally happy - see how you go for another few days. However mummy instinct kicks in, and if you really feel you should take her to the GP - just go hun!
Good luck

Sounds fairly normal to me, DD sometimes has milk come out her nose when she chucks up, not very nice for them, but as long as she isn't choking on it she should be fine. If you are worried you can always have a chat to your MCHN.
Elevating the top of her cot (put a couple of rolled up towels or blankets under the mattress) may help, or if she isn't going to bed, sit her up a little in a rocker or something similar, I wouldn't lie her down flat straight away.

As the others have said, this is not uncommon. It can be a sign of reflux - how is she otherwise? Is she mostly settled?

Congrats on your little one
my newest one had milk coming out of her nose while she fed it looked sooo wrong, but she was perfectly happy
But it is fairly normal, like the others above, if in doubt, go to the GP

Its the freakiest thing to see isnt it ??? I remember sitting at the PC feeding DD#3 - she would have been around 8wks old..... After she was finished the feed, i sat her up (slowly...)for a burp, and it all came out - her nose, her mouth- all over me, all over the PC desk, all over EVERYTHING near us. She cried a little after wards, i just cuddled her, waited 15 mins, then fed her again.....she did do it often after this time....but as she grew older, it passed...
As others have suggested...see your GP or MCHN if concerned....

Hi,
As others have mentioned, this can be fairly common. I know my first never did this, and I was shocked to see a fountain coming out of the nose of my second baby.Babies have very small tummies. The sphincter in their osophaegus is relatively weak, and when their tummy is overful, it just flops open and up it all comes. Many mothers find that small, more frequent feeds help to keep the milk down. Maybe he is finding the comps just a little too much for his little tummy?

Hi,
Thanks to you all who replied to my post. it is nice to hear other mums have experience the same with their little bundles.
I have decided to give it a few more days and if it gets worse then i might contact the MCHN and see what they say.
Once again a big Thanks to you all, and goodluck with your little ones.
xoxo
