Default re: KU Children?s Service

Hello everyone
My daughter will go to her second childcare soon, I have chosen KU since it is very close to where I live. I?ve been there 2 times and feel the environment is good, make me feel comfortable. My daughter?s current childcare have 20 kids for 0-2 room, staff ratio is 1:5. For KU, they have 8 kids for 0-2 room and two staff, which is 1:4.
Since we just moved to Sydney from overseas and don?t have much experience with the children?s service here, so could anyone give me any comment on KU?

Thanks everyone in advance~~~

DS has been going to a KU centre since he was 7 months old, I love the place and the teachers are (mostly) wonderful. Of course I have clashed with one teacher, but that was rare. I have done practical experience in a few other centres and I am always glad that DS is going to the one he's at instead of possibly going to other centres that I don't like quite as much.

I have worked in quite a few KU services, and I love them. Highly recommended, by one very picky childcarer!

Good to learn that from a KU staff, great thanks.
BTW, Sound like KU is a not-profit organisation, is it funded by government?

Well, in regards to being not-for-profit, it says on the website

As a not-for-profit organisation KU makes no profit from fees. (Our fees include day-to-day running costs associated with the provision of the best possible care and education for children.) Any surplus is re-invested straight back into our services, facilities and staff, allowing us to put children first by investing where early childhood needs are greatest.

Snugglybean - not sure where you are... if in Sydney, did you happen to work at the centre in Summer Hill ? I would love some inside info...

I'm not in Sydney anymore. I have never worked at the one in Summer Hill.

BUT based on some of the other stuff that's around in Australia, I promise you it's good by comparison. sydney folk don't realise how lucky they are with quality childcare.
