Default should we go to the docs?

Jacob has been unwell now for 3 days. At first it was just a runny nose (clear) and 4 teeth coming through ()
Then the day before yesterday his temp went up to 38+ dosed him with panadol, other than being a bit more grizzzly than usual and having an extra day sleep, he was his normal self, then that night temp went up to 39, more panadol, screaming, restless, wouldnt sleep, checked him all over for rashes, there is none, ears seem fine.... was ok yesterday, still snotty and grizzly, only 2 sleeps during the day, gave more panadol when temp upped again, I have been up since 4am, he screamed for 2 hours after another dose of panadol, 2 of the teeth have now cut.
I dont know if this is making any sense....I am soooo tired right now...... anyway, should I take him to the docs now? I was assuming it was just a combination of a cold and teething, wasnt that concerned about it, this is really the foirst time he has actually been sick.
    TIA xx

I would take him, especailly if he's teething, has a temp and is screaming. That was the same combination that sent us to the dr many times when my ds was young. 90% of the time he had an ear infection that we didn't know about. He would never show classic signs like pulling at his ears.

Better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

Hope he's better for you soon

I agree. I have had so many Drs say to me over the years that teething doesn't cause a temp - although I tend to disagree, from what I have seen with my kids a mild temp isn't unusual, a lot of the time with DD1 it was an ear infection. And a temp that high , I would get checked out, especially as it has been a couple of days.
Hope he is feeling better soon

We've had this twice and it has been UTI"s. I go to the Dr especially when there is nothing obvious wrong. Good luck xo

thanks guys, he is a little better today, frieked out last night though, he kept throwing up everytime I tried to give him panadol. ended up ringing the parents helpline twice, they were very helpful.
I am feeling very guilty about not taking him earlier.

don't feel guilty Starrysky, we've all done it before (well a lot of us ) A lot of people told me that it was normal for them to have a temp when teething, it was only experience over the years that taught me othewise.
He's going to be on the mend now for sure, don't beat yourself up

ear infections can be hard to pick up. With DD1 she would often complain and grizzle when getting teeth but once it seems just a little worse than usual. So took her off to the Drs and she sat there giggling at him! He thought she was fine and wasn't going to check her ears until I insisted and when he did he found one of them was about to burst From then on I went to the Dr when ever I was worried, even if they told me it was a little virus and she was fine, I wanted to get it checked out rather than risk anything serious...
