    Question Nappy Bucket

My shopping trip this morning wasn't too successful. I had a list, and thought i could pick the items up easily, but it wasn't to be.

I was looking for a nappy bucket. i want a bucket (not too big) with a handle and a lid that seals. I went to bunnings, baby shop and storage shop and none of them had something that fit the criteria, mainly the lid that seals or has clips to keep the lid on.

I have dogs who probably won't be in the same room as the nappy bucket, but think that if they were the bucket might be appealing and i don't want them to be able to get into it.

Where did you get your nappy bucket? Does the lid seal so kids and pets can't get in to it?

I got both mine from either Kmart or Target... maybe one from each. Can't remember. The lid doesn't clip on, but seals pretty tightly so that the lid is 'flush' with the edges of the bucket... if that makes any sense at all?

We just use 2 that I got from Bunnings. They aren't traditional nappy buckets, but gee they work well for us. They are kind of rectangle (but deep) and they open via a foot pedal thing. I find the foot button works so brilliantly as I'm not fiddling around with lids.

Kmart & Target. Also, although they don't look like traditional nappy buckets, Autobarn sell 20L buckets with tight fitting lids. They look like catering buckets (over sized icecream pails), but the lids are very sturdy. I use them at the horses to store pre-mixed feeds for my horses. They're narrower & taller than regular nappy pails.

we have a mini wheely bin for our nappy bin - never noticed any smells coming out but then we do give our nappies a very good rinse before they go in the bin. I also air it when its emptied and pop a few drops of orange oil in the bottom of it.

It does not seal tight so its probably not what your after but it works well for us, it sits in a corner of our bathroom/toilet area.

Thanks for all your ideas. It made me realise there is more than one solution that can work.

I found a bucket at Target, and we will see how that goes.

    cheers

Kate another back up plan if you need it, a lot of bakeries sell a white bucket with a lid that seals well, I always had one with cloth nappies and they are a bit bigger than average and cheap.. Keep it in mind or you might like a spare??

I use the bucket my laundry detergent came in - (Earthon 7.5kg) it has a lid that flips up & I find that handy next to the loo for droping the little squirted nappies in. You probably wouldn't get through that much washing powder before bubs arrives though.
