Sidecar/co-sleepers... rolling during day sleeps?

My little acrobat rolls like a pro, and has started to roll in bed. We've just moved and decided to try 'sidecar'ing, which is working GREAT for us (ie. no more Jazz hogging the bed and laying sideways while we're crammed to the edge of the bed!!! lol).

Anyway, night sleeps aren't the issue (although they are AN issue ... just not this one).

She has started rolling during the day sleeps, which scares the crap out of me when I walk in and see her face down. In the last day or two she started to move around on the bed. She can spin in circles and go backwards (hasn't figured out forward crawling yet LOL) so she ends up moving all round the bed.

The biggest problem is guardrails aren't going to stop it, as she rolls around then shuffles backwards towards the end of the bed so I'd have to buy about 6 guardrails and surround the entire bed.

And putting the side on the cot for day sleeps isn't feasible either as its a two person job to put it on, and Shel leaves at 5.30am for work.

I have a few options, and maybe more that I haven't thought about.

Number one, put her mattress on the floor or use the spare mattress for day sleeps.
This would actually be the perfect solution, as the spare mattress is all set up in the spare room (its just a foam mattress on the floor). My biggest issue with using the spare mattress is that its an older foam type, not the nicest really and I know they recommend babies don't sleep on those. If I put her mattress on the floor I am 100% guaranteed she'll roll onto the floor and wake herself up. Better than rolling off the bed onto the floor of course but still not ideal.

Number two is to stop sidecar-ing and go back to co-sleeping, and put the side on the cot permanently for day sleeps. Do-able, but again not really ideal.

Number three, I could put OUR bed/mattress on the floor but that would be a real PITA as well, moving everything around again and sleeping on the floor won't get Shel's vote at all.

Number four is guardrails around the entire bed. Probably the easiest thing to do, but definately not the cheapest.

OR...? is there any other option? What have you all done once your co-sleepers started their rolling acrobatics?

Leash is she crawling? When you have the cot sidecar to the bed, is there a height difference? Can you lower the base of the cot, so its lower than your bed mattress, therefore stopping her from rolling out of the cot?

PMSL I feel like an absolute idiot now, Shel and I were just talking about that (the cot sits a tiny bit higher than our mattress on the top level, and about 8ish cm lower on the bottom level) and deciding that it would be better on the top so she doesn't roll into the mattress. LOL thanks Ambah.

But what do I do once she starts crawling? I don't think that'll hold her for long. Is there anything I can do?

Another thought... may be annoying, but could you move your bed so its against the wall? Will restrict you to being able to climb in on only the end though... (which will have guard rails I assume?)

She might not crawl for a while yet, giving you a couple of months that way anyway?
Another thought... could you put a guard rail on that side of the cot, as opposed to putting the side back on? (I'm thinking of doing this for eva...)

Ahhh thats a really good idea.

Next question... good quality guardrails? Should I check our Babies Galore?
