Default so proud of her!

Hello All;
I come bearing happy yet sad yet happy news!
After almost 21 months of bfeeding, DD has self weaned herself!!
A bit of background: When dd was born she was sick and we fought with our hospital about the best way to feed her. (they wouldnt except any other way of feeding besides bottle or breast, express was not an option for them... in the end wwe won with expressing and eventually continued on with bfeed.)
We had always planned to wean at 6 months and move onto bottle... but that never happened.
At nine months we planned to wean her at 12months, so we did the research and planned it very carefully... but that never happened.
Then at 12 months we thought it was best to let her go at her own pace.
We eventually convinced her that it was time to give up her night feeds and slowly she decided that she was a big girl, and didnt need her special milk anymore. (execpt for her feeds to sleep)

Her last feed was the firday night of the june long weekend, and she gave no notice that that was her last.
Then when the next feed time came round she simply rolled away from me and went to sleep listening to her story
I offered her a feed the other day, i was just curious to see what she would do; she looked at me, slapped my boob, laughed, then pinched it and pulled my shirt down!!

I am so proud of her, I am so glad that she did it by herself, but a little warning next time round would be good!

And Barb you were right, she did do it eventually, thank you!

Congratulations on your achievement - 21 months is a wonderful start to have given her!! You'll both reap the rewards for years to come.

Congratulations, 21 months is a wonderful milestone!!!

I understand how it would have been nice to know that it was the last time, I hope DD gives me a clue when we get to that position somewhere down the track

It is lovely to hear that DD chose her time.
xxoo
