Hi,
Sal79 - so sorry this wasn't your month. Some months suck more than others when they don't work. Fingers crossed for next time and yay for being able to start straight away!
chellie88 - I have everything crossed for you! The symptoms are sounding great! Good luck keeping busy enough not to let it consume your whole mind!!!
janeo - thanks for the info!
AFM - I must have done something right coz it's all worked out for Sunday!!! Yay!!!! Our ds is going to spend the am with his grandparents, we're going to go do our thing then home for me to veg and think happy swimming thoughts for the sperm! I've also still taken Mon off work to hang out by myself and do more veging and hopefully a nice sperm is becoming very good friends with a lovely egg!!! Maybe I should watch Sleepless in Seattle to get them in the mood!

Hi girls!
Sharon- how did it go for you on Sunday? It was great that you could organise everything to go so smoothly, hopefully that is foretelling a great TWW to come! Was Monday nice and relaxing for you? Will you need to do any injections in the next couple of weeks? Good luck and I hope you stay nice and relaxed for the next couple of weeks.
Chellie - tomorrow's the day, huh? Have you managed to avoid POAS or has the temptation been too great? I'll be thinking about you for your BT tomorrow and hoping it has been a successful cycle for you.
AFM- we started our 2nd IUI cycle last night with me injecting 50iu Puregon. DH thinks I hit a blood vessel when I injected cos I got a lot of blood and I was frighteningly hormonal within a couple of hours afterwards. I'm hoping that this cycle will be successful and am that this is our time.
GL to all!
-Sal

Hey girls
Well this wasnt my month... the evil b***h came to visit today! im so annoyed, upset and disheartened... I really thought this was my month i was sure, i had lots of pregas symptoms. Anyways not sure what we're going to do now. They said our only chance is IVF and i tried not to believe them but maybe they were rite. So now just to come up with the money for that. It may be awhile before we can affordd it though as we're starting up a business. But if i wait to long we will have to pay more as of next year. So im very confused atm. I dont no wether to just give up now or to keep going. Anyways im sure my head will be alittle clearer in the days to come. Just a little depressed atm.
GL for everyone else got my fingers crossed... Sorry dont have time for personals.

Hi girls,
chellie88 - so sorry it didn't work for you this month. How are you going with the decision to continue on or not? We're in the same position as you, if this IUI doesn't work we'll be onto full IVF. My dh and I have decided to throw everything we have at trying to get pg this year, IVF will be out of our reach if all the medicare stuff goes through and funding is reduced/removed. Sucks having to do IVF, but at least we get to try now while it's still 'affordable'??? I already have my review appt booked with the fs in case this doesn't work so I don't have a 4 week wait to see him!
Sal79 - hope everything is going smoothly with your injections, I think I hit something the other week too, I ended up with a bruise the size of a 20cent piece on my stomach for almost a week! I didn't even realise, the acupuncturist told me it was there!
AFM - I'm on the 3-4 daily injections of pregnyl now. I'm not feeling too bad, a bit hormonal and I've been snapping at our ds. Poor kid, I've organised for his friend to come and play this afternoon so he'll have someone 'fun' to play with.
I have no pg symptoms at all, I'm a bit tired but that could be coz I've had 2 late nights in a row, oh well, still going to try think positive.

Hi girls,
I have had a long break from this thread and just thought I would let you know that I have just started an IVF cycle.
I have been following your stories and have had my fingers crossed for you all.
OriginalP- Congrats on the birth of your baby, I am so happy for you!
Sa79- all the best for this month, it is great that your FS organized for you to try again straight away.
chellie88 and sharon19977- you are both facing the decision I had to make about ivf. The Medicare safety net was a big issue for me. I couldn't face going through 5 months of iui only to find I had to do IVF. By then it would have been next year and I wouldn't get the rebate.
The advantage to IVF money wise is that if it all goes well then there should be some frozen embryos which means that you won't have to got through the whole cost cycle again if it doesn't work first time. To give you an idea of cost, I have reached the Medicare safety net so at the end of the cycle I should be out of pocket about $1300. This also includes the fact private health insurance covers day surgery. I did have to pay the full amount upfront though so I have paid $5000 and will get the money back from Medicare at the end of the cycle. Depends on your clinic though, I am with MIVF. IVF also has a higher success rate then IUI.
Depending on the protocol you are on the whole process is between 6-7 weeks long. So it is a longer process than IUI.
Having said all that, there is no way I would have been ready to go through IVF without experiencing the clomid and IUI treatments.
I admire all the ladies here that are persevering with IUI. It is amazing how you deal with the hormone injections month after month. OriginalP is a great example of how IUI can work rather than IVF.
As my FS says, it is a numbers game, the more cycles we go through the higher chance of success.
Sorry for the long post, wishing everyone success with their chosen path.

Hey gorgeous Ladies,
I had my 1st IUI on 14/08, so my TWW is over, but no sign of AF showing up (due 28/08) & don't know what pregnant feels like... all I know is I don't feel like me!!
I think my FS rocks, but why haven't I had Puregon injections too?
I had Clomid days 2-7 (50mg), and Ovidrel day 12, with IUI day 13 (Rooms not open on a Saturday?!?).
I had 2 great follicles (She said she'd be happier if one of them looked abit dodgey - for fear of multiples) - but didn't get told sizes or anything. Is there a chance they weren't actually follicles, but cysts, cause I have mild PCOS?
No BT advised - just go home.
Has anybody else gone through City Fertility Centre (Bris)?
And can someone offer me advise on how long to wait or to POAS? Or any symptoms? Or something, lol!!!
*Not queit crazy - but could be getting there, lmao*
Oops - long post - Hope everyone is doin' great!!
xx

Hi Collinsgirl,
Sounds promising. If you are not on any luteal support meds like pregnyl then I would do a POAS now. When I had iui they told me I could test 14 days after AI. Unfortunately I didn't make it that far before AF arrived. So I would test if I was you. Usually they tell you to do a blood test the day after expected AF. I still had to do a blood test even though AF had arrived and had a negative POAS.
If you had pregnyl or some other HCG drug during the two week wait then I would probably wait a few more days before testing.
I have heard that clomid is better for pcos then puregon which is why you may be on it. I was on 5 cycles of clomid before I did one with puregon and I don't have pcos.
Can't help you with the cyst query though.
Good Luck

Hi colinsgirl
I would say you would be fine to POAS now because its past you af due date. i have PCOS as well. The cysts that you get with PCOS are small and they are formed because follicles do not grow big enough and the eggs do not mature. Also they dont break down, like with ppl that dont have PCOS, because of your hormones doing funny stuff. So it would be highly unlikely that they are cysts. Plus im pretty sure that the FS would b able to tell on the US if they wernt follicles. Anyway good luck and i hope your one of the lucky ones that gets it first go!
sonyalouise - good luck with the IVF. I think i have decided that we will plan to do IVF in October. Im currrently seeing an accupuncturist/ chinese doctor and she said to plan for October but she is pretty positive we will fall naturally before then. god i hope she is right. Its so hard to believe in natural ways when youve been trying for so long and a FS say you have to do IVF but im still thinking positively!
All of the other lovely ladies in here hope everything is going well and we get some BFP soon! good luck to everyone!

HI Girls
Well where do i start??? I dont no whether to be happy or sad. I went to the docs today coz the last couple of days i have had real bad period like pains and i only had my period like a week ago. So she does a pregas test and at first its negative so she does an internal and stuff and then she checks it and theres a faint positive. So im pregas! BUT becoz of the pain she thinks its ectopic so of i go for a scan. The guy cant see anything but reassures me that becoz its so early (im only 5weeks 2days) that its normal not to see anything yet. So now i have to wait until i can get a scan that will show where the pregnancy is, probly around 7-8wks. But now the pains have gone, they were so bad last nite and this morning. The doc also said that it was probly to early for an ectopic pregnancy to be causing pain so I don?t know what to think. I did my own HPT and the positive line appeared before and the blood test confirmed im pregas. Im waiting to hear what my beta HCG levels are. I just hope that this isn?t an entopic pregnancy I really want this.
Anyway how is everyone else going? Hope there is some positive news in here.

| | Greetings & Thanks
Girls,
A quick hello to say thanks for the congrats. What an experience - I'm not sure what I can say before getting sensored. Suffice to say we had all our FSes come visit us before we left hospital, including the head of our IUI and donor program, the manager, the midwife who did our successful IUI and the social worker who's desk we cried all over many, many times. All those people were our partners in the journey, as were all of you.
My wish is for you all to succeed, sooner, rather than later. I believe it's possible - just keep trying and drawing in all the good luck you can.
And PLEASE!!! No peeing on sticks. It's just not good for you! And take your B6!
Lots of love and light and light.
OP.

Oh Chellie you poor thing i know exactly how you feel i had an ectopic pg in Feb it was hard with all the waiting and not really knowing if your pg or not... If you have any ?? please feel free to ask me...
Here is the story of mine... I had IUI in Jan 2 weeks later i did a pg test because AF hadn't arrived on the day 13 after ovulation like it always did and got a very faint positive (Thurs), rang the clinic and they order a bt, the next day (Fri) i found out it was very low at only 6 and to expect af, i started bleeding the next day (Sat) had a fairly normal period, but i continued to do pg tests to rule out pg before i was due to start clomid for the next cycle the following week, the line kept getting darker, i rang clinic Monday and told them they ordered another bt and my levels had gone up but very slowly got told to watch out for ectopic signs.. On the Wed i had some niggley pains went straight to Drs he did a scan couldn't see anything but ordered an urgent bt to check levels, again they had gone up but slowly.. I was put in hossy for 2 nights levels rechecked Friday and they had doubled so the Drs sent me home, this was in the public system not seeing my fertility dr....
Sunday again i had nigglely pains that didn't go away, Monday i had another BT but hadn't gone up enough my Dr asked to see me the next day (tues) so off we went to Ballarat again over an hour from here, had another scan no baby , he sent me home and ordered another bt for the next day hoping my levels would drop, but still booked me into hossy for the next evening to have lap surgery.. My levels had gone up again but not high enough so i had the surgery on the Wed night losing my right tube and my little angel baby .... My Dr also found a large amount of endo that he removed...
So after nearly 2 weeks of maybe being pg maybe not it ended so i was around 6 weeks pg... 6.5 weeks after my operation i found out i was pg naturally so my horrible story ended happily and im now 28 weeks pg........
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF... DO NOT hestitate to go straight to hospital if you feel sick, dizzy, faint and in loads of pain ectopic is really serious... Im assuming (and if they don't demand it) they will check your levels every 2 days, once your levels get up a bit they should be able to see something and rescan you.. WAiting sucks and i really hope you get an answer really soon..... MASSIVE HUGS!!!!

Hi Janeo, Congrats on your pregnancy! do you no what your having?
Thanks for your reply, kinda helps to no im not the only one going threw this. Im actually feeling pretty good and positive.
So i got the blood test results back and my beta HCG was 490, the doc from the hospital said that unless it was around 1500 they wouldnt expect to see anything in a scan. Shes heaps nicer then the doc i first seen she was a bit of an insensitive cow. Anyway the doc from the hospital said that she isnt worried about ectopic pregnancy because i wouldnt be getting the pain this early, blood tests says that im in between 4 and 5 weeks. Shes more worried that i have already miscarried becoz i had a period last week. Thing is i did a pregas test wen i got my period just to check and it was negative. So im thinking i have ovulated late and maybe just had a period because there was so many folicles ( i only had a light period, but mine are all over the place so thought nothing of it). Well im hoping anyway. So i go for another blood test tomorrow to see if my levels have gone up, if they have they will rescan. I also spoke to my accupuncturist and she said that the pain could have been implantation pains, I really hope so. The pains have gone completely, thankfully, and Ive been feeling pretty sick as well, so pretty sure the morning sickness has kicked in. Funny thing is im really happy bout it! well hope everyone else is travelling well!

Hi girls,
Have been posting on TTC after Misscariage or loss but I thaught it best if I poped in for a visit and get to know the girls here.
I am currently on second month of IUI and feeling quite alone, untill I found this thread anyway!
I have a question that I would love to get some help with, I had a scan yesterday (day 11) but I hadn't reacted to puregon as well as I had last month my Doc told me to continue puregon 50iu and have anoth scan friday morning. That puts me at day 15.... Last month my IUI was on day 14. Could I ovulate accidental before friday??? If my scan is better on friday they will give me trigger of Pregnyl 5000iu and have IUI Saturday which will be day 16. Does this sound too late??
Sorry to go on and on
Hope you all don't mind me joining in x

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted...but I've been lurking!
Sharon- I just noticed your BFP!! Congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy!
Chellie - how are you doing? Did you get a BFP confirmed?? Hoping you are ok
Murraycod - welcome! I too am on my second IUI cycle and I too noticed that I did not respond the same to 50iu puregon on my second round. During my first cycle I produced three eggs and this time only one. With regards to your question, if you had a scan yesterday and your doctor said you hadn't reacted as well to the dose as last time, this probably means that your follicles weren't as big at this stage as they need to be prior to ovulation. When I had my scan my one folly was at 15mm and I was told that I would probably trigger on Tuesday some time, as they grow 2mm each day. A BT confirmed that I was not about to ovulate. I'm not medical, but I believe that the eggs need to be of a certain size before you will ovulate naturally, so if they're not there yet it's unlikely that you will before they grow bigger. If you're worried maybe you could call your clinic and ask?
AFM - I'm 8dpiui and will inject my final pregnyl for this cycle tonight. For the past two days I've had some mild cramping in my uterus (I think) which I'm is implantation. I don't ever remember feeling these cramps at this stage before, but I'm past the point of trusting my body enough to interpret it. All I can do is wait. Also found out on Monday that my VFF (very fertile friend) is six weeks pg with her third child. We had a bit of a falling out when she tried to liken her experience to mine when she said how upset she was when she didn't get pg first month like usual - it took her two! I had trouble sympathizing!

Sal79 thank you for your reply,
I don't feel as uptight today the week seems to be going quite quick for me, so scan on Friday morning and fingers crossed IUI Saturday!! I'm not looking forward to the TWW though, but I guess we all have to soldier through it.
Promised myself no POAS this try, last time 13DpIUI gor a BFP 6days post Pregnyl I should've known better.
Anyways Sal79 I that the number 2 is the lucky one for us both x
Take care honey and let me know how you go.
Chellie88 you are in my thaughts I hope that things have worked out for you this month and you continue to get better and better news to come.
I will be lurking and posting here a bit I hope to get to know you all and best wishes to everyone here x
