I have been thinking about this for a long time and I have now gone ahead and ordered some beautiful birth DVD's, which aren't like the ones you will see in pre-natal classes! i've just started, so more is to come.

fantastic idea kelly!!! the hospital ones are so outdated and often from the US!! (oops hope this is aussie now i've said that!!!!)

I just loved it when I saw it at a Doula conference. Nic Edmonstone and Vicki Chan's work is BREATHTAKING... it's incredible. I sold them at the ABA conference and they got a huge response from the childbirth educators as it's a modern, Australian, beautifully done birth DVD which is not too long - you get all the good bits, especially a slow motion, full frontal image of the membranes rupturing. Yes you heard right! It was incredible. Funny, I cry in the bit where she is having those really intense contractions, I can feel it! Oh the power...
She gave birth in a private hospital with two doulas and a private midwife. I gotta get me that, only at home  |

Forgot to add - you dont see her on the bed at all, you get a great variety of in the bath, shower, fitball, rocking etc... it's the DVDs they should be showing in birth classes... but making mention that it's not what happens in a normal private setting - there is hired support!

Nic is an absolute artist, isn't she? I think we'll be seeing a lot more of her work. How wonderful to have this alternative to the 'tethered woman' images of birth.

I loved it!!! (Sorry Kell I forgot to tell you!!) Tears galore, DH even walked in to see some of it & teared up. Its beautiful.

OMG it was sooo awesome. I got goosebumps and all teary. It reminded me sooooo much of my birth eerily similar (in a good way!). Really is very beautiful and shows birth in all its beauty which IMO is the type of birth DVD's women should be watching, not the scare mongering types.
Thank you Kelly for sharing this with me, it really was beautiful something I'd love to show to Paris when its her turn Even though thats a long way off. But I'll definitely be recommending this to all my friends for sure.
