Default anyone else have short cycles? (23 days or less).

I have finally moved into the long term trying to conceive threads here although i should have been here months ago. So this is my question.

I have short cycles - usually around 23 days. The fs I'm seeing said I had little chance of getting pregnant when they were this short (and after the length of time we've been trying, clearly she is right)! Am in the process of having all the tests and so on now, I'm jumping the gun, but just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if it's possible for them to regulate your cycle? I am a feeling a bit fearful as the fs did mention that short cycles can be a sign of pre-menapausal symtoms.

Is there treatment for short cycles?

Bea the short answer is yes, with medications they can help to regulate your cycle or even simulate a cycle more to help you ovulate and increase you luteral phase after ovulation. This may give your follicles (and eggs) more time to grow and mature and your body a chance to create a welcoming thick lining for your uterus and increase it progesterone levels. I would guess your specialist will try and track you to see what is going on with your hormone levels over a natural cycle first.
It is great you are exploring what may be going on with your body! Best of luck.
Some women also try Traditional Chinese Medicine as a way of regulating a natural cycle. Something to consider depending on the answers you get from your specialist.

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? Before I was treated for hypothyroidism I had short cycles also (23-25 days), but they returned to a normal length after thyroxine.
Good luck

I'm in the same boat Bea06...length can be between 23-26 days. MY GP and FS have both told me though that its normal length. I believe I ovulate mostly around CD14-15 so would've thought my LP was too short. I'm getting close to the 2 year mark of trying for a second and had an op earlier this year for big fibroids which they thought was my problem, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is my short cycles?

I've had the thyroid levels tested a couple of times and it was normal.

Very frustrating isn't it.

Over the last few years my cyles have become shorter. Used to always be 28 days now they are commonly 23-26 days, sometimes 27 or 28. My last cycle was 20 days. In my case it probably is peri menopause as I'm 43.

Even so I still managed to conceive 3 times in a 12 month period. I found it always happened when I managed to O on day 12 or 13 of the cycle. Most cycles I O'd on CD 15 or 16 & with a shortish LP of only 11 or 12 days that didn't leave much time for things to develop.

I was lucky enough to have it happen naturally but a FS can manipulate your cycle in order to achieve a pregnancy. It seems that it's all about timing.
