| | 1st FET cycle with blasties - anyone had success?
I'm in my first FET cycle and if our two little blasties thaw on Saturday we will transfer.
Just wondering if anyone has had success with frozen blasties as my embryologist said they can be 'tricky' to thaw ...so I'm in need of stories of hope to lift my spirits...

Ellie, my recent cycle was a FET with a blastie... My FS told me that they just get them out of the freezer and stick them in the incubator and that's it - no fancy stuff involved in thawing them at all. I'm afraid I don't really know anything about the success rates of thawing blasts, but I do know that in a woman under the age of 35 a blast transfer has a 42% chance of working... which is pretty good odds, considering that a couple with no fertility issues at all has a 20% chance of conceiving each month.
Hope this information helps in some way.
BW

Thanks BW - you're such a wonderful support...I'm trying so hard not to stress about it...as we both know there's not much you can control in all this...we just hang on for the ride????
Thanks Monnie...I can do with all the positives I can get!

That's very right, Ellie - jump in, hold on... and hope we end up somewhere nice at the end of the ride. You've been a big inspiration to me in not letting things get me down. I've recently decided that it's just not worth stressing over - all the stress can't change things, and it saps so much energy that would be better directed to other things. If only my FS could see me now!
I will be keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome on Saturday... and then keeping you calm for the next few days until the dreaded blood test time.

Hi
We have some blasties frozen for later so was wondering the same thing.
If you've got 2 to thaw, then the odds must be pretty good - afterall, you only need one good one, right?
I hope all goes well for you on Saturday - sending you lots of sticky vibes!

Ellie,
Thaw rates for blasties are better than for Day 2. No one can gaurantee they will thaw of course, but blasts are more robust in general. If they survive the thaw, the chance of success is comparable to a fresh transfer! So please don't stress, my sweet.
Also, on the aside, a blast frozen from a cycle that previously resulted in a pg is more likely to result in another pg. Just FYI.
ETA I know of plenty of women (not necessarily on BB though) who've had their bubs from blast FETs, too!

Sushee, I'm such a stress head...I so hope this time next year I'll be coming to the Perth meet up's with my bub/s!!! My brother and his partner are being induced today ...I should have a new nephew sometime tonight...which is adding to the emotional rollercoaster too...thaw little blasties before mummy gets locked up for going CRAZY!!!

Sushee, thanks for that information... makes me feel so much more confident about my remaining blasties for when we get around to using them.

Just wanted to wish you GOOD LUCK for Saturday Ellie!!! As you know I only had 1 x 5 cell and it thawed perfectly and I was so worried I'd lose it (because there was only one)... I think they are a lot better at thawing these days, I'm sure both will be just fine (hoping hoping)....! Good Luck, thinking of you then!

Ellie,
you will be coming to Perth meets next year with a babe in arms, I believe it with all my heart. And I think it's perfectly healthy being a stress head under the circumstances! I may look calm, cool and collected now, but you should have seen me when I was cycling. I was as neurotic as they came!
Thaw little snowbubbies, thaw for your mummy!

Ellie, how are you going post-transfer?
At this point in time, the words of my FS come to mind. There's nothing you can do now to effect the outcome either way. Relax, enjoy life and try not to think about it.
Not that it worked for me at all!
Take care, Ellie.

Hi BW!
Going ok...I think!@?! Took the day off today to rest and read every post on FET and blasties lol!
I'm hating these pessaries...feel like my 'bum' is going to fall out! Anyway, I'm staying focused on all the positives...they thawed...they're blasties and this may just be our best chance yet... DH is funny...obsessing about 'twins'...I don't think we're in a position to be greedy!
Thanks for thinking of me...hope you're going ok?
