| | Crystal deodorant?
Anyone use one instead of that chemical crap from the stores?
And if so - do you recommend a certain one? |

I haven't used a crystal deo before, but I use a natural spray - it's called Natural Instinct (?), I think it's made out of the same thing as the crystal roll on ones.

I used to use one from the supermarket, but I can't remember what it was called! It worked alright, but didn't go the distance as much as my Rexona did. Sorry I'm not much help!

I use a really good one.... it's called "Miessence organics" i get the aroma free one. there is no nasties in it..... get them at most health food stores.
About $10 for the rollon deoderant bottle but well worth it!!!!! to find the website just google "onegroup"
I have tried those crystal deoderant ones but dont think they seemed to do the job for me.
ALSO i use some days a spray deoderant brand is "sukin" its nice too but i find i need to respray otherwise i get a bit stinky easily!! but its natural also. health food store sells its
google "sukin" you will find the stockists

Hello - I have done a bit of consumer research on the topic of effective natural deodorants, as I have worked in health food shops for many years. I've also tried almost all of them over time. I've found the best deodorant is a crystal deodorant called the body crystal spray - I've tried all the other brands, but that one really works well.
One problem is that if you have been using aluminium and chemical deodorants long-term, your body will take a few weeks to detox and readjust, and you may be a bit smellier for a week or so, no matter how good your natural deodorant is. Because aluminium blocks your pores and prevents sweating, it is detrimental to your body's natural detoxification processes, hence the rebound sweating/odour when you stop using them. It is worth persevering, you'll find that you will actually smell less and less over time.

Thanks NicoleTracy, that's really interesting!! I always wondered why i always smell when i stop using aluminium and go to the natural stuff!!! lol i go through phases but am determined to stick with natural only from now on.....
I've read about how aluminium etc blocks the pores, that cant be good at all. Mel - just make sure you carry the deoderant around with you and reapply every few hours for the first 1-2 weeks while your body adjusts.

i just use a few drops of rose geranium essential oil rubbed under both armpits, and the bonus is i smell good too!
that and lavender are some of the few essential oils that can be applied directly to the skin. make sure you get the real thing, oil garden or sunspirit etc. i buy mine direct in bulk from sydney essential oil co or new directions.

OOh thanks for that information - thats really interesting.
I don't currently use a "spray" as such - but a roll on which I suppose would be exactly the same thing. DH was actually wanting to start using one instead of his sprays...

I tried a crystal deodorant and I hated it. It went all hard and cracked and stuff anyway, and before that, it didn't even work.

I was given a crystal deoderatn by a client and I LOVE it!! It doesn't stop you sweating just kills the bacteria that causes the smell.
Highly recommended!

I use one called 'Crystal Mist' and I find it quite good. Of course it doesn't make you smell all pretty like some of the other brands (when you first apply it) but I find it works for me.

My mum is into all the natural stuff like that and one of the first things she tried was the deoderant. she loves it....you can't buy her stuff over the counter though... its by neways company (i hope i can say it) you have to find a demonstrator to get it.
