| | | Kate Duncan anyone?
Hi,
Just wondering whether anyone has used Kate Duncan before and if so what did you think? I'm particulary interested to hear from anyone who has had an elective c section with her - at how many weeks were you when she did it?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Portia, not sure if you still use this site, but I am going to have an appointment with Kate in December, and would like to find out a bit more about her. How did you find her?
Cheers.

Hi guys,
I used Cate in 2004 for my first child. I found her to be quite aloof during my visits and also quite intimidating. Having said that she monitored my pregnancy closely as I had high blood pressure throughout and took all the necessary precautions and checks so in that sense she was great. The reason i havent returned to her for my second pregnancy with which I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and visiting Dr Price (excellent may I say) is because of the way she treated me during the labour. I must have interupted her sleep so maybe thats why she was sooo cranky. She arrives at the last minute and while I am pushing trying to get through the pain and I let out a scream she turns to me and I am not kidding tells me to grow up. Yep thats right so thats the last time I pay her $3000.00 out of my pocket. I was extremely offended and embarassed and it really took away from my happy moment at the time.
Good luck with your selection girls and hope your experience is better than mine.

Hi Pantera,
well I have been seeing Kate and have found her to be quite good so far. Isn't it funny how different people can have different experiences with the same person. She and my DH joke around together, and she seems happy to take all my questions etc. I could imagine that she could be intimidating though, and I'll defintely be telling my DH what happened to you during the birth, cos if she or anyone else for that matter says anything disparaging about me while I am giving birth (whether I am yelling, screaming or swearing) then he'll have my permission (and will be strongly encouraged) to go to town on whoever it is. I certainly hope it was a one off! sorry that you experienced that though.

Hi,
Glad to hear your experience with Cate is going well. As I mentioned in my post she was very good at what she did especially monitoring me with my high blood pressure, and to be honest it wasnt really her aloofness that put me off because each person has a unique style, these obs are busy so I dont expect them to sit down and chat to me like I am there best mate - I am basically paying them to deliver my child safely and she certainly did that. Its just that birthing moment that put me off. Which is certainly not to say it will happen to you.
Good luck with your pregnancy - Cate comes highly recommended that is why I chose her for my first pregnancy. People will always have varying opinions - the most important this is that she is not incompetent or unethical in her work and I have not heard any such thing about her.
Just try and go into labour at a reasonable time so you dont inconvenience her!! (just joking) - all the best.

| | Yes, I had C-Section with Cate.
Hello ladies,
Yes I had an emergency C-Section with Cate in Feb 2008. She was brilliant - cool, calm & very understanding and I was able to completely trust her to make the right decisions.
I had a posterior baby who had a tilted head (a big head at that!) and although I had the option to continue, Cate suggested I had a 60% chance of having to have a Caesar and I decided to go with it. Had my beautiful little girl within an hour and I have healed exceptionally well. Waverley Private was where I was and they too were great. Hope that helps.

Hi,
My experience with Kate was a positive one. My daughter was born in December last year and I would have no hesitation in recommending her. She was fantastic during the birth ( I had a natural birth) and I trusted her totally. During the visits she kept things simple and to the point - she answered all my questions clearly and explained things fully. I am now pregnant with # 2 and have started seeing her again.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my second baby and have been really impressed with the level of care I have had with Kate Duncan. She is so thorough and professional.
I had Dennis Price as my ob with #1 and he was on holiday when I went into labour and I was blessed to have Kate as his replacement's replacement! I had such a great experience with her I knew I'd use her for #2!
Kate is more expensive than Dennis but it's true when they say you get what you pay for!

| | Second time round with Cate Duncan
I had my first child with Cate in February, 2007. I am now 9 weeks pregnant with number two and have gladly returned to Cate.
I have found her to be an absolute pleasure to deal with - cool, calm and collected when I delivered my first who really did not want to come out. I really wanted to have a natural delivery and Cate took that on board and we worked to get him out!! She was also extremely supportive post birth when I had some issues with breast feeding.
I actually had my first appointment with her today for my second pregnancy- she was extremely thorough and again great to deal with. I feel extremely confident seeing Cate again and returning to Waverley Private.
Also - I asked her lots of question with my first (I used to take a list) she answered them all thoroughly and I also always felt I could ring back later if I'd forgotten anything (which I often did!!)
