Default Reviews about Dr Vicki Nott & Dr Shelley Rowlands?

I just found out that I am 11 weeks pregnant a couple of days ago - my first pregnancy. My GP has recommended me a list of OBs (from St Vincent Hospital)

    Dr Vicki Nott
    Dr Shelley Rowland
Dr Amber Moore - BOOKED OUT
Dr Emily Olive - BOOKED OUT

Dr Moore and Dr Olive are already booked out and I am deciding between Dr Vicki Nott and Dr Shelley Rowland. Dr Nott seems to be more expensive in fees. Dr Rowland is very informative as they sent me an information pack to me before I make the decision.

If you have seen either one of them for your delivery, your feedbacks, recommendations and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi there, I might be a little bit late in replying but I had Dr Vicki Nott for both my pregnancies. She is fantastic. Even though you think her fees are a little high, compared to everyone else they are exactly the same. Most of it you get back from medicare & your health insurance so really you are only out of pocket about $1000. I highly recommend Dr Nott to everyone I know. She is such a caring person, has a great personality and is one of the most sort after OBGYN's in Melbourne. Im actually suprised she has any vacancies. If you can get her I suggest you do so asap. If you need any more info I am happy to help.

    Hi Nikki

Many thanks for your reply and feedbacks. We have made the decided and decided to book Dr Nott - have already seen her twice. I agree with all your comments in this forum about her - she is easy to talk to, she listens, she gives great advise, etc. It's excellent to know a second opinion.

Just one question. You mentioned that you only paid out of pocket of $1k. I have been advised by the receptionist that the expected out of pocket would be ard $4.5k after Medicare claim with net safety (which I have applied online). I understand that I am not able to claim my private health insurance for Obstetrician fees. Is this not correct?

    Thanks again

Default Want to understand how Medicare Safety Net works?

I have paid $4500 for my OB. I understand that if I reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold of $1111.60, I am eligible to claim 80% of the fees. Currently, the receipts that I presented i.e. my out of pocket expenses that I have paid so far is $555.

    My question is :

Since I have paid $4500, would this amount add into the $1111.60 threshold and I would be eligible to claim 80% of some of the $4500

    OR

Does this $4500 not add into the $1111.60 threshold as currently I only have $555 out of pocket expenses and I can't claim the 80%. If this is the case, how much can I claim?

Would greatly appreciate for some help in this query
