Default Help pls - qns on hcg levels

Hi all

I had a transfer of 2 blasts on 16 July.
On Monday, 21 July a BT showed hcg of 34.
On Weds, 23 July a BT showed hcg of 108.
My BT today, Friday 25 July showed hcg of 162.
My next BT is in 3 days time, however, I am absolutely stressing out.
I thought normal hcg levels are supposed to double every 2 days - it has only risen 54 units between Weds and Friday.
Would appreciate your views on whether you think the rise is normal/abnormal.

Thanks heaps
V

Hi Venus,

I know it's really hard not to worry, but try to remember to keep breathing and try and stay as relaxed as possible.

The guideline that HCG should double every two days is really quite a fluid thing. My understanding is that it is meant to *approximately* double every two to three days. It can be more than exactly double, and it can less than exactly double, and everything can still be ok. Every woman and every pregnancy is different.

You were only two days past your last BT, and that level was still increasing after two days, which is a good sign. Although it hadn't doubled, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, given that it should take 2-3 days for it to *approximately* double.

The best indication is going to be your next BT. I know it's really hard to have to wait that long when your really worried about what's happening (I went through a similar thing after my first BT with my BFP), but please try not to read too much into anything at the moment, as hard as it is.

I hope to hear really great news in a few days, and I'll be thinking of you, hoping for that continued increase in your levels.

Good luck, and remember to keep breathing, hun.

Miss C

Thanks for checking in Miss C. All went well - the blood test came out at 422. Have another BT Monday 4 Aug, but not worried anymore. Once again thankyou for taking the time out to address my concerns before - it certainly made me feel reassured during the weekend. You're the best,
Vx

I just came across this thread. I was going to say it looks good to me and then I saw that you'd already had new results and they were great. Congratulations. I hope you have a happy, healthy and uneventful pregnancy ahead of you. You'll probably get a huge shock when the next test is done, the numbers go up in incredible leaps and bounds from now on.

Hi Venus!

Sorry it's taken me a while to get back here, but huge congratulations! It's such a difficult storm to weather: that early time after you get your BFP, but I'm so pleased that this BT has confirmed everything is going along so well.

I hope the next BT test and the next milestone keep getting better and better for you, and here's to a really happy and healthy pregnancy!

Miss C
