Question Feedback for the Mountain Buggy urban Elite please.

When we went to dream world (probably a year ago now) we hired a pram. It was a mountain buggy and I was soooo impressed by it. It was sooo easy to steer and seemed very stable etc.

We bought a bertini bidwell for DD (in 2006) and even though I love this pram it is quite heavy to steer. But then again I am not sure if I could part with it LOL (probably because it was her first pram etc).

BUT I think the Mountain Buggy would be alot easier to push around (especially if I have a toddler standing on the kiddiboard at times)

So I am looking at the Mountain Buggy Urban Elite.

Has anyone got any feedback on this pram please? I am also looking at getting the bassinet if I do buy it.

Thanks heaps

I have this pram and i love it. DS is very snug in it and sleeps with no probs, it's so easy to turn aswell. You'd think it would be hard to turn in small spaces but it isn't. I sometimes carry DS in the ergo and push the pram with one hand an again it's light and easy. It folds down very easily and I don't find it heavy. I live up a shocking hill and often push a 6.5 kilo bub and pram with no probs.

We bought the bassinet aswell and it was a life saver in the early days as DS could look at me ( he was a tiny premi so had many issues). I don't think the bassinet is essential as the pram itself lays right down, is snug and with the sun / wind cover on it's very protected in there. The plastic flap on the top is great for peaking to make sure ds is okay although the velcro to open it always makes a noise and sometimes wakes him.

Good
  • Ample storage compartments. I recently discovered in the side of the rain hood 2 x more pockets.
  • Great turning circle
  • Not to heavy
fits in boot easily. handle bars fold down
Could be better
  • Would love a coffee cup holder but can't complain as it has a water bottle holder.
  • Wish the shopping basket was a little deaper
  • Cost ($800 + for pram, $250 for bassinet incl raincover, $80 for suncover (best wind / suncover by far), $70 for rain cover, $60 for bar across pram 6 mnths +) thats is yu want MB gear only other wise shop about
.

I do a lot of walking along the coast and across grass.. i find even in bits of sand it is still easy to move. DH likes to push it as he says it's a more manly pram!

With any pram it doesn't fit in all cafes or shops!

We love ours!!!!!

I got a double MB for DD1 and DD2 - I was keen to keep moving with the 2 kids as there are heaps of shops/parks etc close by - it is massive and just fits in the car. We use a single Maclaren stroller for the shops and the MB is our walking pram and lives in the house.....

My sister has just purchased single with bassinet for her first bub and it is fabulous - so easy to guide/push - I wish I had bought one initially for DD1!!!

Definitely worth a play at one of the baby shops....also worth shopping around as prices are sooo variable.

Thanks heaps for your reply

May I ask what type of car you have? Our bertini fits in our boot (I think it is wider then the mountian buggy) so I don't think it would be a problem. I would try it out at the shops anyway.

Do you know how long the bassinet is approx? I would want it because I love being able to look at bub when they are so little. I am not a fan of them facing outwards when they are so young.

Mak- Thankyou for your feedback Yes I didn't realise how heavy the bertini was to steer untill I got to use the Mountain Buggy. I wasn't a fan of 3 wheelers but I tried tipping it to the side when DD wasn't in it and it was quite hard to do so. So i think it seems to be one of the most stable 3 wheelers.

We have a Mazda CX-7

Just measured the Bassinet and it's approx 70cm length and 39cm width. It clips on and off the pram base so easily.

Even now I wish sometimes he could face me but then thats more for me than him (he loves looking out now but not for the first 5 months!!

Ella- Thanks for the measurements (I couldn't find any online) so the bassinet would last a fair while then.
