| Twins or More Just when we thought having one baby was tricky enough, mums to multiples often have extra challenges with two or more babies of the same age. If you are a mum to twins or more, this is where you can exchange experiences and support with others. | |

| | 12 weeks pregnant with twins, plus a 20 month old toddler. Any advice?
There was already a twins thread that was up to about 20 pages, so thought I would start a new one.
I have just found out at my 12 wk ultrasound that I am pregnant with twins! We already have a 20 month old and this pregnancy was going to complete our family of 4 (now to be 5!).
If anyone has any advice that might help, it would be much appreciated! We are both still in shock, so haven't really been able to take it all in yet!
Thanks,
Carlie

Hi Maz,
What crazy news hey? Who would have thought!! Very scary, daunting and all the rest, but a challenge that we can get through. We have a tonne of support around us with friends and family, so am sure if anyone can do it, we should be right!
Yep, as soon as i found out it was twins, i thought i definitely need to join one of these sites to start hunting down some info and remembered you talking about bellybelly. Might find myself spending more time on here than on FB!! haha.
Just online looking at twin pram reviews. If anyone has any recommendations, feel free to pass on. Just from what i have liked the look of online, I have shortlisted the Baby Jogger City Mini, Valco Ion. I have the P & T Sport and they do a twin, but it had a few niggles that I didnt like with 1 child let alone 2!

Well, you definitely picked the best site to join Carlz!
And now that I know it's definitely you, I want to send a HUGE congratulations and HUGE
It is such exciting news, and although I can understand that it must be pretty scary I think you will start getting very excited as time goes on If anyone can do this, it's you and Adz.

Welcome Carlie! I cant help you out with having twins as I only have 3 kids real close together but I can just imagine its going to be a crazy fun journey for you
Just wanted to say I have a City Classic double pram (not the mini) and they are fabulous! Its like a tank. You can also attach a skateboard to it if you need to have somewhere for your elder child to hop on while out and about. The weigh limit per seat is one of the highest Ive seen so it will last them well into toddlerhood. It fits through all standard doors. Well worth the $$$.

Thanks everyone! It already seems like a lovely group of users on this site. It will be good to share the journey and pick everyone's brains along the way
Anna - thanks for letting me know you have a BJ Twin - they are a bit more exp than other twin prams, but when you are using something as much as you do a pram, I guess they are worth the extra if they are what you want. A plus that it can also take a skateboard - didnt know that - will be good if DS stays on it for when I am brave enough to venture out with the 3 in tow!

Hey Carlie, welcome and congrats on your twin pregnancy
My twins are 3.5 months old now and I have a 5 year old boy, not quite the same I know. But experienced with twins I am, as you have plenty of support around, you will be absolutely fine. We are new to Australia and had next to no help with our twins and just about pulled through the first 3 months, which are the hardest. If you can get any help over, dinner time is the time when you will need it most. The dinner, bath and bed routine is a hectic time. My neighbour had 4 kids under 3, her last one being twins. She said it was easier to feed the kids in the bath!!! Killing 2 birds with one stone, I thought that was a brilliant idea I don't think I will need to do that though, but it might be a good one for you!
If you are on facebook, click on my link below and send me a friend request, I don't tend to go onto BB much these days. But I am always on FB, I don't mind you asking me any questions at all, glad to help

HI Carlie
Welcome and congrats on your twinnies
Mine are turning 1 next month and just wanted to say we have the twin city mini and it is fantastic!! When your shopping make sure to mention the twins we found a few stores had a 10% discount for twins and one shop was even a specialty twin place 2 for 1 capsule hire etc. It all helps
Twins are so much fun and amazing to watch as they grow up. Definately makes all the hard work worth it!

Well, I think after reading quite a few reviews, I have decided on the Baby Jogger City Mini Twin. Unfortunately no stores in Wollongong stock them to give them a test run close to home, but when you can't find any complaints excl the basket being a bit small, I think I could be on to a winner I did see one on sale at pram warehouse online, but since checking again, they have re-branded and no longer stock Baby Jogger Prams. Has anyone seen any cheaper than the $849 rrp? I have just sold my P & T Sport on eBay, so I guess if I have to pay full price, then I am not going to be forking out the whole lot...

Congratulations on your pregnancy. My children were 3.5 and 26months when my twins were born, and although it is not a walk in the park it is certainly not the hardest thing in the world.
My advice would be say "yes" to offers of help, let your friends cook and clean for you if they offer as in the early months you will be very busy. Try and make the most of the time when your twins are asleep by reading your toddler stories, etc. And if you are planning on breastfeeding then I strongly reccomend feeding them one at a time until you and they get to grips with how it is done. This will also give you a spare hand (sort of) to read your toddler a story whilst feeding as well as giving you one on one cuddle time with each twin.
Good luck My twins are almost 2 now and I can honestly say I have had the most tremendous fun seeing them grow and develop, and feel so privileged to be their mum.
xx
