Default Breech Vaginal Birth after Caesarean/s

CathyS's thread on VBAC at Logan hospital got me thinking.

Has anyone got any info/stats/stories on Breech Vaginal Births after Caesarean/s??

I am ASSUMING that there wouldn't be many hopsital/OB's which would support such a birth.

I know of a few recent breech vaginal births in hospital but no vbac's.

I'd imagine you'd be seriously pushing the proverbial uphill with a popsicle stick to get that in hospital.

There was someone who mentioned their friend had a Breech VBAC... maybe ask her if she wouldn't mind passing on your email to her friend?

Lemme see if I can find the thread

Thanks heaps for that link!

Those pics are AWESOME!!!!

Yes I imagine it would be a huge fight for a woman to achieve this. Very sad. In saying that, I am certain there would be some out there who have/would achieve it!

Just another reason why we need to "stick our heads out" and make a stand to save private midwives and homebirth!!!

I'm sure my OB would do it up here - cos she is one of the only ones supportive of a VB for breech in the first place. Not to mention incredibly supportive of a VBAC.

It was looking like I was heading toward another breech delivery and my OB was happy for a breech VBAC trial. He knew I was keen to avoid another c-section and even said "You're going to make me deliver this one breech aren't you" (um - yep ) It didn't end up being needed so I am not sure how it would have gone when push came to shove (so to speak ) as the registrar on duty was antsy enough about me being a rapidly progressing VBAC. I was a high risk public patient at a public hospital due to other risk factors not related to a VBAC.

When we discussed the breech delivery for DS we were clear that they will either progress well and smoothly (his did to 7cm - just his head was stuck between my anterior placenta and ribs leading to foetal distress) or go pear shaped and we would head for an emergency c-section. My plan would have been the same regardless of the VBAC part for DD.
