Default Frances Perry House Obstetrician

I am not yet pregnant but would like to have my baby (planned for mid-2006) at Frances Perry House, Melbourne. As there are so many OB's delivering there I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for a good OB. I am looking for a reasonably experienced Dr. with a calm and patient manner who is happy to answer the many questions I imagine I will have.
Prefer inner south-east/bayside area but will travel to outer south-east if highly recommended. Please reply if you can help!

Hi Beth and welcome to BellyBelly!

The BellyBelly website Ob is Dr Nick Lolatgis, who has been my Ob for both my two (almost 3yrs & 4mth olds). You will get plenty of recommendations from the girls here and myself. He is very experienced and has a great manner. Dr. Lolatgis practices in Clayton (Clayton Rd) as well as some other locations. Good luck!

I am having my baby at Freemasons, but I know my ob delivers at Frances Perry as well, his name is Dr Len Kliman and he was very highly recommended to me by a friend who had twins under his care, and so far I have found him to be wonderful. For someone who sees pregnancy and birth every day, he still gets so excited about it, which I really like. He was also the consulting ob for 'Up the Duff' by Kaz Cooke, so he is practically famous, lol! His offices are at Freemasons and the midwives in his office are all very caring and helpful.
Good luck TTC!

I had Dr Kliman for my twins and he is a legend. After the birth of my twins, things got really scary and he was the calm amongst the chaos.

Really nice guy and his midwives are so helpful and caring
hope this helps

I was listening to the radio the other day on the way to work and Kate Langbroek (from The Panel and a local radio station) was talking about her impending birth and she is using Dr Kliman at Freemasons for the second time, and I dont know why but I was so pleased that someone with the money to choose whoever they want picked the same ob and hospital as me! Made me feel like I have done the right thing. Weird theory I know, but its strange the way my mind works...lol

odette,

Sorry to stick my head in here but with your twins, did he allow you to have a vaginal birth or did you have a caeser?

hi there Kelly
I had a caesar. Mainly because they were both breech and they had to be born so early. The only way he would do a natural if the presenting twin was head down.
hope this helps

Thanks Odette, I have actually heard that a breech presenting bub is a possible indicator for a caeser. I am glad you were impressed by him!

Odette,
Thankyou for mentioning Dr Kliman - you are not the first to suggest him so he must be pretty good. Only downside is that he is more expensive than most other OB's. I think I will go with him anyway as I am so impressed with your (and others) recommendations. I presume that you would see him again for future pregnancies?
