| | It's offically over :-(
Well it has been four days now since my bubba girl had a BF so I'm thinking we have weaned.
We laid down at bedtime the other night and she told me "Ari big girl now" rolled over and went to sleep and just like that it was over :-(
I am sad, but not as sad as I thought I would be. She is happily bouncing around and although she did ask for some tonight when i told her it was all gone she just wandered off happily
The question is... now what? I am thinking of doing some training or something with ABA, I would like to stay involved in baby stuff since I won't be having anymore babies

one thing i learnt from long term bfeeders(4+ yrs) is that she might come back to it in a week and still know how and still want it and your milk will still be there....
so if your not ready to give up yet.. maybe still offer her a feed once a day...
you have given a fantastic gift to your daughter... and either way i hope she is forever thankful of that to you!!
Your a great mummy!

| | Aw Sarah!
Congratulations to both of you for going so far with your breastfeeding!
I think getting involved with the ABA is a fantastic idea If you have such experience and knowledge it seems natural that you should try and share that with other women.
Good luck!

Well done to you and Ari!! If this is indeed the end of your bfing journey together you should feel so proud of yourself for feeding her so well and so long. You've given her a great start to life!
I think bfing counselling is a wonderful idea.

Well done! And well done to Ari too
I think you would be an asset to the ABA . Are you involved with your local group?

| | hun. You have done a great job and it's ok to feel a little sad.
I think it would be great if you did some volunteering with the ABA. I have recently started training as a counsellor and I love it. Like you, my baby and bfing days are over and it is so nice to be around babies and help others to bf. Best of luck with it hun, maybe I'll see you at the Qld conference next year!

| | Well done Sarah, you BFed for over 2 years!!! You reached the WHO guideline!!! I think you would be great as a BF councellor, or even if you decided to do LC training!! If DH will go for it, then do it, and tell him that even though all the babies do make you clucky, you will still be getting your baby fix and wont pine as much because you will see them every day.

oh shucks ladies, thank you.
No I am happy she has weaned as it was the right time. DH thought I weaned her at two (he has some issues with extended BF) so now is good and now I can start doing some things for myself like focusing on loosing some weight and stuff - I'm one of those strange people who can't seem to shift weight while BF but after my kids wean it just seems to fall off? I've lost nearly 3 kg this week - Wow - mind you it's all gone from y ample bosoom so now I look like one of those ladies on the discovery channel
Going to buy myself some sexy new underwear in a couple of weeks and look forward to embracing the next phase whatever that is.
Mantaray - how did you find the training is it hard? I was going to my local group in the beginning but when I went back to work it was hard. I went back a few weeks ago and I was the only one with a toddler and felt like I had 2 heads. Might give them a call and see what/how to go about it??

Saram, I don't find the training hard at all, you just need to be organised to get it done, and get to meetings etc. You really need to be involved with your local group to start your BC training. If you really find that you don't click with your immediate group, you could always try another one nearby. But you know what, it would be really good for your group to have someone around who has BFed toddlers! And you might find that after awhile you have alot more in common with some of them than you originally thought.
In your place, I would start going to your local group meetings on a regular basis, and then approach your group leader and tell her you're interested. That will get the ball rolling for you
ETA Just thought I would add that I am getting so much out of my training, apart from the BFing stuff. It's a fantastic course!!!! I am very lucky to have a wonderful training adviser, and I'm training with some fantastic ladies, but the work itself is for the most part very interesting, and can applied to so many areas in life.
