I had to take Brendan to the dr this morning...
he had stinky saliva and his ears were gross too... he has a throat infection AND both ears are infected He's also lost 600 grams since May and now weighs just on 11kg fully clothed

Thanks, he's finally over the throat infection and ears too. He had a hearing check today and he can hear, but his perception of where the sound is coming from is not good. Apparently a premmie thing, his middle ear is not good. The fluid however is not as much as last time, so at least he's improving.
More bad news... He's now sick, a cold.
Hope you guys are all well

We're well and back from our holidays. Nearly finished renovating the entire house! I don't want to do my bit just yet though so am on BB - just sanding and painting today. Skirting, not ceiling. Should have the whole house done within a week! Of course, it has taken four years in total.
I'm wondering if not knowing where things are is a baby thing in general - Liebling just doesn't follow where we point. He points to things just fine, but if I point to a tractor, even saying "look, tractor!" he doesn't know where the tractor is.
Liebs has grown too! He's about 87cm tall now. And I am wondering why sentences are considered A Good Thing - I'm wanting some peace now!

How is everyone?
We are ok... Brendan is having a lot of issues lately. Mostly hearing related. He is suffering from re-occuring ear infections and has glue ear. He cannot hear very well at all from one side and the other is o.k. not great and not where they want it to be, but o.k. He's been having continues colds, gastro, ear infections and throat infections for some time now and finally on Monday we got our referral to an ENT. Now its just a waiting game....
Tristan and I are doing well
Take Care over these holdiays xxx

We're recovering from suspected Swine Flu. DH and DS have a NASTY spotty rash: had to get DS out to the doctors to make sure it's not chicken pox.
Hope Brendan gets his glue ear sorted out soon.
And merry Christmas everyone!

All is ticking over here. Liebling is doing really well - he was being a bit of a rotter after a holiday with my mum, but we've sorted that out pretty much now.
I wish Liebs would go back to "I love you very much" - today he just says "I don't like you Mammy." My fault for not letting him run riot in Church I suppose.

He is - sadly he's handsome enough that most people let him get away with it.
I've realised how my parenting style is opposing DH's though - I let DS do what he wants, answer his questions and encourage him to stick up for his own beliefs. DH has now decided DS has to learn to read, so spent almost 2 hours getting him to say "a, b, c, d" as he wrote the letters. Not worth it: I use fridge magnets and talk about letters when DS is interested, not when I have some time and want to fill it.
As I said to DH, his persistance and knowing his own mind (ie stubbornness) is an asset to an adult, so don't wipe it all out! We're currently taking the line that he does what we say NOW and can ask us why as he's doing it. I will always give a reason. But he has to do as he's told. So he can ask why he has to come to table and eat (he usually gets that one though!) or why he has to tidy up, but he has to stop making a mess first. I've got a feeling that will be OK with DH until he decides it's backchat from DS... sigh, I feel like I'm having to teach the both of them!

I know how you feel! DP and I have slightly different styles too, but most of the parenting is left to me these days. DP finds it hard to cope with Brendan's lack of communication/Speech/Language ect.
Gotta go, bath time, so I'm told LOL.

That's what annoys me - DH is a "parent" for about 5 hours a week. I do everything else. So why is he telling me what I should do? At least I got a nap while DH decided to do letters yesterday. I just think it was great Liebling told me he was drawing a circle while he did so.

I suppose on one side it's a good thing DH wants to play an active role in DS's development. But the other side is YOU know DS better and what he is happier and more capable of doing.
DP doesn't attend any of Brendan's appointments, he just doesn't understand that Brendan is not your average 3yo and he can't expect him to act like he's 30. lol... ah well...

We've almost finished with the chicken pox! The scabs should be gone in a day or two. We now have various body parts swelling and going down for no reason. Last night was over the eyes, which was a bit scary. Thankfully it wasn't eye cellulosis, so we just have to ride this one out too. Can't wait for next week when he's back at Nursery instead of screaming at me all day! I need a rest now.

Poor Brendan. Hope the ENT people sort it out for you.
Liebling is feeling better, but is on penicillin for the septicaemia. He should be better soon. He didn't want to go to Nursery today, so is at home again. He was back in his own bed last night: I was tired of being kicked out of bed so he can lay width-ways across the bed and demand that I put Cars on at silly times of the morning. So I was up most of last night re-settling him. He just wanted me there, but didn't want me in bed with him.
I'm very nervous about PiL looking after him tomorrow afternoon. MiL ignored us when we told her that DS had huge scabs on his torso and just kept rubbing him (why?) then she ran her FEET up his side and knocked some scabs off, causing DS to cry and cry and cry - and bleed. She didn't understand why I would be very over-protective of Liebs when this happened and comfort him "so much". Then again, when we arrived and Liebling was playing with my chin, she asked him if he was playing with Mummy's double chin, which I really didn't appreciate either. (I'm very skinny and had anorexia for years: even without both those facts you still don't make comments like that about your DiL to her face!)
