Sharmaine is a qualified Chinese Medicine Practitioner, with a special interest in Women’s Health and Paediatrics and treats all major health issues, including common colds and ailments, skin and energy related disorders.
Clinical Experience Sharmaine has worked in multiple clinic settings, and in three different countries:
- Seoul, Korea in Khung Hee University Hospital, an integrated East/West Hospital, in specialised departments including gynaecology, pulmonary (lung), endocrine (hormone) and hepatic (liver).
- Rural India. Multi-modality clinic predominantly treating diet, fatigue, musculo-skeletal, emotional and sleep related disorders.
- Melbourne, Australia, working alongside a practitioner with over 30 years of experience, who has had continuous, outstanding clinical results with unexplained infertility.
Treatments
- Pre Natal Care
Sharmaine’s treatment involves creating the optimal internal environment in a woman’s body to conceive and implant and may include regulating the menstrual cycle and endocrine (hormonal) functions including PMS, treating endometriosis and ovarian cysts, regulating sluggish digestive functions in order to increase assimilation of food and nutrients to enrich the blood and the endometrial wall.
- Natal Care
Sharmaine’s natal care focuses on maintaining the optimal internal environment in a woman’s body, and a woman’s overall health, treatment focuses on eliminating morning sickness, and treating emotional, energy and fatigue related issues during pregnancy.
- Post Natal Care
Sharmaine’s post natal care aims to restore vitality and energy and ensure that the mother’s health is optimal, including the treatment of post natal depression, increasing breast milk and flow, and fatigue related disorders.
- Menopause
Sharmaine’s treatment focuses on the root cause of menopausal symptoms to help alleviate and often eliminate them by regulating the endocrine function.
Paediatrics
Many paediatric disorders can be treated using Chinese Medicine including:
- Sleep disorders
- Bed wetting
- Eating & Digestive complaints
- Behavioural problems
Treatment is generally focused on food therapy, acupressure and the use of Chinese medical herbal formulas. Sharmaine teaches parents about food and diet, to help prevent common ailments such as recurrent colds and congested noses.
Consultation and Treatment
Sharmaine uses an integrative approach to diagnosis and treatment, working closely with patients’ other health care practitioners, as required. A treatment plan will be advised and options provided to meet health goals.
