‘Waterbirth Minus the Mystery’ – For Professionals
In this fun, hands on workshop run by ‘The Midwife’ team (Brenda Manning RM, Kim Short RM and Robyn Koster CBA), you’ll see and participate in a role-play using an inflatable pool filled with water, complete with a pregnant woman! You’ll see videos and pictures, along with a well-delivered presentation, which will give you the know-how and confidence to manage labour and birth in water with ease.
You’ll get your hands wet as well as learn:
- The benefits and risks of waterbirth, including statistics and research
- Teaching pre-natal waterbirth education
- Workplace change
- Setting the scene and useful props
- Complications and how to deal with them – and much more
In the Australian College of Midwives (ACMI) evaluation of this very same workshop, 100% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that:
- The content of the workshop was relevant.
- The way in which the content was organised and presented made it easy to understand.
- The “hands on” part of the workshop was very relevant.
- The methods used to present information throughout the workshop were interesting and assisted my learning.
- There was sufficient opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification.
And most importantly:
- Following this workshop I feel more confident with managing a woman who plans a water birth.
