I've forgotten most of my sociology and never understood Foucoult anyway. But someone mentioned a bunch of theorists were anti-marriage. From memory, didnt the early feminists see marriage as a patriarchal construct designed to oppress women? In which case, how do they then view same sex marriage? Is it gay/lesbians fitting into a hetero superior construct in which case shouldnt they avoid it? Or is it that marruage allows them to access a bunch of legal stuff like superannuation, estate planning etc, which is more pragmatic and possibly Marxist? What do the theorists say about marriage as an expression of love?
There's a big difference even in feminist thought. Identify the bits you want to write about, then find the theorists who say something for and against.

I agree with the comment about using google. I am doing a PhD and I still use google and wikipedia all the time, especially if there is a definition I just can't understand or keep in my head, or jargon which people love to throw about.

Well, it's gone now, and quite possibly the worst essay I've ever written. But if I pass I'll be a happy girl and my mark for my last essay should even things out
Can I just say what an amazing bunch of women you are? I'm so in awe of all of you, truly I am. I felt so supported, and I really needed it.
Next stop conflict management. I wonder what that will be like?
And Sopdet, you cracked me up. Never have I wanted to wash my floors and spring clean my wardrobe more than over these last few days (in fact, I don't know that I ever have at all) and I've been eating like a pregnant person, too - olives, glace cherries, vegemite saladas... anything I could get my hands on.
Feeb and Sop, how did you guys go?

I am reading foucult at the moment. I am writing an assignment on acquired brain injury and need to link it to Foucult. Any suggestions to which one of his books I should be lookin in?

I am of no help. This is how I feel about my whole unit of Research Design and Analysis for Psych! The 750 word research proposal is one thing (and worth 15%), but the research report another kettle all together, and worth a lot more! ARGH!
I went through a bit of this theoretical framework w@nk a bit when I did Anthropology. I limped and bluffed my way through. Take heart, though, I ended up getting to Hons and managed to skirt around the issues of theoretical frameworks to get a first class hons! And yes, this part of the degree is painful - the crunchy, no-comprende part :(
Commiserations
I agree with Krys, though - just start writing ANYTHING to try to make sense of what you're already read, then tweak.
