I am half way through my first year of Midwifery at ACU in Brisbane and really liking it so far, but it's not easy especially when you have kids to organise. I have found that I just don't have the time or the ability to keep on top of everything - uni, kids, housework etc. The housework suffers usually because I prioritise everything else. You really have to be prepared to devote a lot of your time to your study, because you will need to if you want to get decent marks. It's definitely do-able, but requires a lot of organisation. And money lol to pay for books and child care.
LMAO- yep they do demo's using the models! We have one of us in the bed making all the right noises, then we push the baby out through the model and the mid students all do what we would for a real woman. Pretty funny!
munchkin-mumma i just bought the 2012 VTAC guide from the newsagents which has all you need to know about applying to uni's and TAFEs. Obviously it's the victorian version, i wonder if they have a western aust version? It was good to have a read of and help me figure out the process and what will be expected of me.

how old were your children when you started studying? DS was 2.5yr, pregnant by the end of first year !
Do you study full or part time? First year I was full time, working part time, came home to DH and DS. This year, I defered 1st semester, doing the next little while part time.
To those of you with no/little support, how do you do it!? DH works too, and originally offered support and help with the house work, but I was lucky if that lasted 2 weeks... I just carried on
Did you find it hard getting into it after a long break from high school? Yes and no. If you really want to be there, you kinda adapt. There is always help with essays and stuff :)
