You've got 6 months to a year. You can get extensions. I know of a few people who have been studying for 2 years!!!

It takes as much time as you want to put into it... There is no pressure.
Everyone studies differently so i print out my modules as I can't concentrate reading from the screen all the time. Plus with kids, going on the comp all the time isn't an option for me. When I get alone time, on the weekend, I usually pick up my books!
I'm loving it and I'm not as far into it as lnd!

I'm back on the case with this again now... Just trying to work out if now is the best time to sign up. We've just headed back to the uk to be with my mum while she has cancer treatment and all being well with her and DD's ongoing health issues we're hoping to travel for 12-18 months. In some ways it seems like the ideal time, in others, not so. I should have time to study and interesting subject matters but on the other hand I'll need to get a better computer to travel with (we'd initially just planned to go with a netbook and an iPad) and I'm worried about having a guaranteed Internet connection all the time.
How is everyone getting on? Do you still feel as keen now you're a bit further in. How many hours a week are you spending on it and how far in are you? I've been trying to find out how long (in hours) they estimate it to take, but can't find it anywhere.
Swoop, I have my mum around and I still find it difficult to read, and process all the info in one go. I have to do it in the evening once the kids are in bed when everything is dead silent! That is just how I study I guess. The first few modules blow your mind full of the information, but it all starts to click over time.
I just got 10/10 for module 4.... Which I am so excited about, and I have got progressively better over time. Taking photos is just another aspect on top of the theory. While in the uk you could get some gorgeous shots, but in module 3 you need a clear sunny day, and for me here in jersey, it was hard to get one of those days.
I also like to print out the modules to read them (and highlight along the way) as reading off a screen does my head in!
If I was you, I'd wait..... Spend the time capturing some memorable shots now, then study it all later.

Thanks so much for your honest answer Yules, I really appreciate it. As keen as I am and desperate to start now, I don't know that I have the time.
If you really want to do it.... It's worth the wait. You already have an 'eye' for photography, play around, link yourself up with some photography blogs and pages on fb and you'll be studying without even realizing it. :)
