Captain - I can't stand fish so I have to admit Jett has only had Salmon, and only because a friend of mine had salmon patties for lunch and gave some to Jett. It is something I will get DH to do with him, but I just can't be in the same house at the same time!!
Nettie - I have a big bib that kind of covers everything, but it always seems to shift so he gets food everywhere anyway!! The other things I do are strip down to singlet and nappy, which of course is just cruel in this cold weather, and spread a flat cloth nappy across his body tucked just under his armpits and around his back. Then I put the bib on over the top. I tried a new idea tonight though which seems to be quite successful. I found an old button up shirt of mine and put it on him backwards (remember wearing your Dad's business shirt as an art smock in primary school?) and then rolled the sleeves right up. Worked a treat and then all I have to do is pop it in the wash and I don't care if the stains don't wash out!! I just might have to find some more shirts though!! It covered him, and the Bumbo he sits in to eat.
Kirra - The playing is just the beginning! Eventually it will end up in her tummy! Jett generally has weet-bix for breakfast. Sometimes I heat it in the microwave, sometimes mix fruit puree through it, and sometimes I just put a bix on his tray and pour some milk over it, just enough to soak in and then he can pick it up and eat it with his hands. Oh, and we have a suction bowl too... but it only sticks if you try to pick it straight up. If you tilt it by pushing down on one side like little kids do to look inside it just comes straight off! Just part of it though! With the mushy weet-bix and yoghurt or custard or other such things I either put it in the bowl that doesn't stick, or if it is a reasonably thick consistency I just dump it on his tray and he has a ball dipping his hands in and sucking them. He actually does quite well, but it has taken a bit of practice. I always give him a spoon which I will load for him but let him grab it and stick it in his mouth. And yes, when he is almost finished he likes to finger paint too!!
Amber - Yay for the spoon victory! Pity your Mum doesn't go for BLS. My Mum doesn't get a choice! My way or the highway.... it's my turn to be the Mum!!
I noticed tonight that the mess has been greatly reduced since we started BLS 3.5 months ago. Sloppy foods are still v. messy, but normal foods seem to be making their way in to his mouth with far more accuracy and there is only a minimal amount sitting in his lap at the end of the meal.
-
Oh, it would be bit cold here to strip naked for dinner - ughh! shameless plug - but the Australian Breastfeeding Association have great "puddle feeders" - they are a bib with sleeves - cover everything and wife down at the end. They have been around for about ever and a necessity for the beginner at solids. Available Mothers Direct
-
Thanks BARB A friend of mine has one & I was just mentioning to DH last night that I didn't know where to get them from. I'm definately investing in one of those
NETTI BJ actually doesn't make TOO much of a mess, surprisingly. But my trick is to roll his sleeves up, put a bib on, and make the tray to fit snug on his belly, of course not squashing him, but right up close. That way everything that drops goes straight on to the tray. I also make sure the bibs are long so they tuck in under the tray
MUMMYT Thanks for the welcome
CAPTAIN I like the sounds of that recepie. What tuna do you use? In springwater?
KIRRA Welcome too! I'm new to this BLS too. Glad someone else in here will be a little clueless like me  I love your name. DH & I have Kirra ready to go for our next bubs name. Byron & Kirra... Sad I know
AMBERJ Yay for the spoon. I haven't tried a spoon yet, but have his rice cereal ready to go for when he wakes up this morning
BJ had a great day of eating yesterday. Not much gagging. Yay! He had watermelon & banana for breaky, cucumber & avacado for lunch then for dinner he had sweet potato & pumpkin which I had boiled to make it really soft. He squished it all up in his hands & had such a wonderful time. I knew he'd had enough when he suddenly started screaming lol.
I am wondering if his dinner upset his tummy last night. Has anyone had problems with these foods? I actually think he ate too much. I loaded up his tray & he seemed to eat most of it. He finished eating at 5.45pm, had some water, then went to bed just after 6pm, though woke up at 8.30pm which he NEVER does. I couldn't re settle him, though he seemed to be burping alot. I think he had indegestion. Could this be right from potato & pumpkin? Or did he eat too much of it?
I'm off to check out Mothers Direct. I think i'll also purchase their BLS booklet
-
We just used a bib that pulls over bub's head to give good coverage of the shoulders, a fabric one. I would wash them until they were no good and replace. We managed to get cheap ones from the cheapy shops. DD used to drop things in her lap and on the floor sometimes, but was surprisingly not as messy as I expected.
My best cleaning thing was to let the dogs in afterwards to take care of the floor and the bits left on her chair. ;)
-
LOL Georgi my friend who has a daughter with the same name as my daughter (Alyssa) informed me yesterday that there other name was Kirra, weird huh. I do like my name cause its differnt and not very common.
Usually when i feed charli i take any white clothes off her our house is very warm anyway (like 24 )and just put a big on her, i tried the tea towel in her lap the night before last and she just pulled it off and started eating it. lol. I was just saying to DP the other day i wanna get a bunch of bibs that are like art smocks as i'm forever soaking her clothes trying to get the orange pumpkin stains out :wall:
I'm off to checkout mothers direct too :)
-
Oh yes...we have a black furry vacuum here too. Very good on the clean up!! ;)
-
I found the feeding coat on Mothers Direct ($19.95). I bought it! I also bought the plastic mat that goes on the floor under the high chair (12.95), plus the Baby Led Weaning booklet. I think these things were really well priced, $10.95 for delivery though.
Well BJ finally woke up at 8.10am. As I normally BF him at 9.30am I didn't give him any food cause I didn't wanna put him off his milk feed. He didn't feed well anyway, so I fed him at 10.30am & he fell straight to sleep. So no breaky for him today.
ALYSSAS MUM Did you check out the Mothers Direct website?
-
What a day....
Charli had a piklet as a late lunch and then some potato chips (the actual potato kind not the ones from a bag) and some crispbreads with vegemite, it was so cute watching her lean forward and grab the food, its the first time i've put the tray on, figured until i get a suction bowel i'll just put it on her tray which seems to be working very well for her.
I did look at the site but they dont have those bibs in charli's size so i might wait a lil longer i think i seen something similar in big w???? Took me ages to find them though, are they the feeding jackets under puddle play or something?
-
Alyssa's Mum I have given up on bibs and just tie a tea towel round her neck! At least there's always one handy when you need one, and they catch most of the fallout...
-
Yeah they are the ones. Under Puddle play. It took me ages to find them too. BJ wears size 0's so I figured the size 1 will do the trick
How did Charli go with the crispbread? I have cruskits ready to go for tomorrow but not sure how he'll go with them. He tends to load his mouth so full that he can't actually chew.
I tried Ravioli with him tonight.... No good. He gagged & gagged & gagged. I ended up taking the meat out of the pasta & just giving him that. I guess he's not quite ready to progress off his fruit & veges.
-
We've got some of those bibs, but I find he gets food on his clothes anyway... we got some from Ikea - they've got the pocket at the bottom which is good.
We're going with changing his clothes after a feed. We usually keep him in his pj's until after breakfast anyway..
He had tortellini tonight and after having a suck on it - he jammed the whole thing in his mouth & just held it there for ages! Very cute!
-
She liked it, its one of the only things shes eating, alot of the time she just wants to chew and not eat, her poor teeth are giving her hell atm.
Still waiting to give her some brekie, she hasnt had a proper feed since 4am so i guess its just a waiting game, i'm expressing now as they are just so full and she wont drink lil rascal.
I'm not game enough to try charli on tortelini or ravioli yet not til i get my 1st aid cert on sunday :) atleast then i'll be a lil more confident in what i give her knowing i can handle it if she chokes or something.
How cute Nettie, did ya get a pic? My 4yr old still holds the food in her mouth for ages but thats cause she dont like it. lol
-
Nah - no pic, but he does it all the time. He did it with spaghetti and I think I've put a pic on my gallery with this one...
He made a huge mess on a walk with Dad today - ate a biscuit and smeared it all over the pram! Guess I better go clean it up! *sigh*
-
Oh no Nettie... Lucky you said that after I bought the bib, otherwise I may not have bought it. Oh well. At least his clothes will be somewhat protected.
ALYSSAS MUM Yeah the ravioli wasn't a big hit. He just couldn't chew it properly. That's great that you're doing the first aid course. I held a first aid certificate for 10 years as I use to teach aerobics, but I let it expire a few years ago. I am looking at getting back into it so I'll have to do the first aid again. Though someone here advised that I look on the Raising Children website as they have a clip on first aid for choking. It's quite good.
This thread is very quiet.. Is it always like this????
I gave BJ a Cruskit with Avocado yesterday. OMG they rock. What a great idea that was. Thanks, whoever had mentioned it.
I am just wondering if anyone gives a timeframe for bub to finish eating. Yesterday it took BJ 45 mins to eat 1 cruskit. I kinda feel like I'm tied to the house cause he's taking so long to feed. If I had given him more, I'm sure he would've eaten it.
Though he wasn't too keen on dinner last night. I gave him mince meat with pumpkin & sweet potato. He ate some, but just wasn't happy to be in his chair. Not sure if that means he didn't like it, or he just wasn't hungry. Hmmmm
-
DD used to be like that,, meal times would take an hour sometimes, not cause she was messing around, just slow, examining the food lots and eating little mouthfulls.in the end, if i had to go out, id just pack some up and wed eat the rest on the run! shes pretty quick now...infact sometimes i have trouble keeping up with her she eats so fast!! lol
DD wasnt keen on mince for a while, i think its a bit hard to chew for her, maybe a bit small and 'gritty' , makes my mince sounds horrible lol.
It does get a bit quiet here sometimes!! :)
So, DDs 3rd and 4th teeth are just about to pop through the gumsand she has been off her food for a few days, gave her a corn thin yesterday and she cried cause she couldnt eat it!! :( so we have just been having yoghurt, scrambled eggs, sweetcorn, nice soft and easy to eat stuff....im sure as soon as these top two teeth are out she will be into a whole different selection of food.
OH, and she has tried Peanut butter,i was eating it the other day and she was getting so annoyed that i wouldnt let her try any, she has had most the other high allergy things with no effect and no one in the family has nut allergys so i gave her a tiny bit on a crust...then a bit more. has had it a few times over the week i think quite likes it!! so its so great to know she doesnt have any allergys.
A question i had, i know they cant have honey till over one but does that include if it is used in cooking or in a sauce....for example, carrots baked with honey or a honey and mustard sauce or in muffins etc??
-
The honey is because of bacteria, so I reckon if you heated it - it would be alright..
Gave DS some pizza & garlic bread last night (because that's what we were having) - he just had crusts with some tomato sauce on it and he licked all the sauce off! Don't think he tried the garlic bread (didn't give him any of the butter)...
-
BJ just DEMOLISHED some Zucchini slice....
Here's the recepie
3 Zucchini's grated
1 carrot grated
1 onion grated
1cup cheese grated
6 eggs
1 cup self raising flour
Mix Ingredients, bake at 180 degrees for 40 - 45mins
You can slice it into fingers so baby can grasp. It is better once it has been cooled & refridgerated as it binds together better.
-
DS loves corn thins (like rice crackers but made of corn and yummier) with philidelphia cheese with garlic and herbs.
He loves Garlic bread and pizza crust.
loves bits of chicken breast, loves plain pasta with grated cheese.
Doesnt like bannana or avocado
-
like the recipe, i was just thinking about what to cook this week, last week i made muffins with bacon, semi-dried tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. she loved them
went to a friend for dinner and she ate more than ive ever seen her eat. i think she just got carried away cause there were so many adults all eating, and she wanted to try everything. in the begining she was just having potato and asparagus, by the end she was eating fetta and olives..and loving it all!!
loving tortillas with cheese and tuna and sweetcorn inside, folded in half and grilled at the moment!! and suddenly began liking avo after all this time of not touching it.
-
Georgi - This thread does tend to go in fits and starts. But if you post rest assured lots of people are reading it. Sometimes if there is nothing new to report and no questions to be asked it just becomes a ghost town, but then the next minute it will be a busy city with posts flying everywhere!
We don't have a timeframe for eating. If I need to be somewhere I give him foods that are quick and easy to eat (nothing too slippery or overly messy) but otherwise I just let him eat and play until he swipes it all off the tray and starts pushing back and crying. That's our signal that he's done! Some days he is quick and other days he takes his time. Depends on the food, how hungry he is and just his general mood.
Did this post this morning so not sure if it is relevant any more!! Forgot to press submit!!
-
MT It's always relevant :D I just run out of easy to eat ideas. I guess that's why I have joined this thread, to get loads of ideas.
FEEB I was just reading a BLS info website that said some babies don't like avo & banana. It's not common though is it.. What a shame, cause they are so easy to eat
BECKOES It sounds like your DD is such a great eater. Did you do BLS from 6 months? (sorry if you have mentioned this before). Yeah the zuchinni slice can easily be put into muffin trays, just cook it for less time. You can even put sliced tomatoe on top
BJ had a cruskit with Avo for breaky this morning and polished it off in no time at all. THat was quick for him. Now I must go & clean the mess
-
Georgi - BJ sounds like he is loving his food again which is great.
Zander still doesnt like to swallow - but I am just going with it now.
When we eat (roughly) - he also has some food on his tray and he has a play, a suck, a storage system on the roof of his mouth etc - when he screams after about 10 mins I just get him out. He doesnt eat much but it is a start. He is sucking english muffin at the moment.
I havent done egg dish yet, but wanna do some mini grated vegie muffins, so will try. But tonight for dinner we are having tuna muffins and veggies, so he can try that too.
Patience Sam, patience.
I went to an ABA meeting during the week and borrowed their BLS DVD and had a chat to them and they ALL made me feel much better and told me not to worry about him not eating yet - WOW - to be validated is just great - instead of from all the professionals that I must start to try and do something about it (like give him purees etc- which he wont take anyway )
Fingers crossed May will be our month LOL
-
Sam, he's still only little so I'm glad you got some validation from the ABA group. TBH my DD took over a month to be really interested in solids and I didn't start until after 6 mths. Within days of suddenly developing an interest she was wolfing food down! Developmentally, there is scientific research to suggest that most bubs' digestive systems are ready for solid foods from 6-9 mths. If you're letting them lead (as with BLS) they will probably start eating when they are ready developmentally.
-
Sami - The ABA is a great support for BLS. Glad you went and got that validation. If you think about it babies do everything at different ages, such as crawling, some start early and some start late. That doesn't mean they will never crawl, they are just going to do it when they are ready developmentally. Same goes with food. So it is nice to let them choose to do it when it suits them rather than forcing them in to something that they just haven't got their head around IYKWIM. As long as you continue the BF or Formula they will be getting all the nourishment they need until they are ready to let solids become their nutritional foundation.
-
Sam, ITA with what everyone has said. And fwiw, my ds just played with/sucked food for ages. Its really only in the last couple of weeks that he has actually started to consume some of the food (he is almost 11 months).
Just back on the bibs thing, yesterday I went to Dimmy's and they had the cover-all bibs (sleeves etc) for $3 each- excellent bargain, I think they are about $10-$15 at baby stores.
Not much BLS going on here the last few days- poor Peter is unwell and miserable and won't even touch arrowroot- definately sick!
-
Oh no! Not even touch an arrowroot? That is bad! Jett is sick too atm with bronchitis and blocked nose, but those arrowroots are still going down!
-
Poor Jett & Peter. Hope they get well soon
SAMI Yeah, BJ is doing pretty well with his eating. He will eat most things I put in front of him. I'm glad the ladies here gave you some re assurance about Z eating. It must be hard that your other two got straight into it & he's just different. I bet it'll happen as Jennifer said. One day, shazzam!
Well we tried some new foods yesterday, but to no prevail.
Firstly, natural yoghurt.... He gagged on it LOL. It was so funny and interesting to see him gag on something that wasn't even solid. Goes to show the difference between gagging & choking.
Secondly, squash.... He didn't want a bar of it. He wouldn't even play with it. Just pushed it away.
Thirdly, Spaghetti.... He loved this one. He had a little trouble getting it into his mouth but when he did it was so funny to see cause some was always hanging out.
Mind you, this was all tried at dinner last night as he wouldn't eat his squash & yoghurt so I had to go to the fridge to see what else I had there to give him. Lucky I had some Zucchini slice left so he gobbled that down too.
-
LOL at gagging on yoghurt, Georgi. It's worth bearing in mind that some babies and toddlers will need new foods introduced up to 20 times before they will take it. You can try gradually getting them to accept it faster by encouraging 'kissing' the food, or at least touching it, even if they won't eat it. (I've heard a theory that since this is the age little ones become more mobile it's a natural instinct to avoid new and potentially dangerous foods and stick to what they're sure is okay, which kind of makes sense). Introduce a new food along with ones they will already have and just keep persisting. Some will even taste and reject new foods, but it's just because they're not used to it, not always because they have an active like or dislike for things. At this age their palate is still learning.
I followed this with DD and it was amazing how some things took weeks of being offered before she'd try them and then one day it would be eaten without fuss.
-
I totally agree Jen, DD has never been a fan of Avo, would have a tiny taste but never 'eat' any. and the other day i offered it, as usuall, and she just started gobbling it up!! and has liked it every time since!
Im going back to the uk for a few weeks soon and have been trying to think of as many different food items i can take on the plane. We will leave the house at about 10 am on the 16th and not be off the plane at the other end till 4pm on the 17th. i know they serve infant food on the plane but who knows what it will be, so i want to have enough food for the whole time! Any one got any good ideas? things that will keep, out the fridge (in a little esky bag, but dont know how cold that will be for all that time!) for 30 hours!!!!
Today i made a nice cheesey white sauce and she had it with pasta and veggies!! and i cooked a carbonara for dinner! which went down well!
And Georgi: offered DD squash, the yellow kind, when we were out the other day, ive never seen a reaction like it, i though she was choking on it, grabbed her tongue and her body shook and she made the wierdest 'sick' noise! couldnt work out what was wrong till she put another piece in by mistake and did the same thing! ''i guess she doesnt like squash'' said my DH very casually!
-
Hi I've been stalking this thread for a while to get some ideas for BLS. I thought maybe it's time to post and say hello! At the moment I am only doing some feeds as BLS.
My DD started solids around 6 months old. She now eats potato (her favourite), pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, yoghurt and banana. I often give her carrot sticks and banana pieces. I also give her teething sticks which she loves sucking and chewing on. She does seem to be interested in feeding herself, so when I do feed her from a spoon I give her her own spoon to hold. She either feeds herself with the spoon or picks off the food with her hands.
-
beckoes- I was just at the supermarket yesterday trying to find exactly the same things for Peter to take on the plane. (we leave on 1 June, so a few weeks after you). I am going to take some cruskits, some little rice cake things they have in the baby section, some plain bread (he seems to like it!), some jars that don't need heating- like jelly or apple, some arrowroots....um, that's all I've got for now. Let me know if you think of anything else. I looked at cooler bags at the supermarket, but decided it was all a bit hard!!
-
amber corn thins (adult size ones) are great or adult rice cakes. can put so many things on them from chhese, vegemite, avocado
cheesymite sticks rusk tyoe things say 1- 3 years but DS loves them
-
Hey TANYA.. Welcome! I started stalking the thread just like you.. And now, we're full BLS, but only cause that's what BJ wanted. I occaisionally try to give him food from a spoon & he still refuses to open his mouth for it. So I guess this is it for us :D I hope Maya's canine will rip into it lol
JENNIFER I will continue to offer the yoghurt, thanks for the re assurance
AMBER & BECKOES Unfortunately with me being so new to BLS I have no tips whatsoever oh & BECKOES, LOL at the squash reaction
OK, so I've found another fave... Spaghetti! I still had cubes of pureed veges in the freezer so I defrosted them & used them as sauce on spaghetti. He LOVED it! I also grated some cheese in with it. What a hit... But what a MESS... Oh, the clean up.....
We're gonna try chicken for dinner tonight for the first time. I hope he'll gum it ok.
-
Hey Georgi, good to see you in here :)
Well just a quick one from me. Decided to give Kye some ravioli tonight for dinner as I was having some and omg he scoffed it down, here I was thinking 'oh I'll just put 5 pieces out for him' thinking he wouldnt really like it but in the end I think he must of had about 15-20 pieces  little piggie!!
I also made a banana pudding that I got out of a phamplet my CHN gave me and that was a hit too
The recipe (if anyone wants to try it)
Na-Na Pudding
1 egg yolk
1/3 cup of formula or breast milk
1/2 ripe banana
1 tablespoon rice cereal
Mix everything together, pour into a small oven proof dish. Sit the dish in warm water ie bay marie. Bake at 180C for 30mins, sooo easy!!
-
gee i haven't been in here in a while.
Grapes. I give them to Ashton, I bit them in half and he loves them! He loves watermellon too but his favourite is banana. He has one a day! And he will eat it in under 4 minutes.
He has weetbix with a smidgen of honey for breakfast in the morning
Tonight he had pastie which he loved :)
-
Looking forward to when Matthew takes to his food with the same amount of gusto! He far prefers playing with whatever he's given than eating it. I loved the sweetcorn and cheese muffins though! He does like arrowroot biscuits but I've just stopped giving them to him as they end up squished into the roof of his mouth and then it's drool, drool, drool and big screams if I try to get it out. Anyone else find this?
-
CHEEKYFROG BJ does hide food in his mouth at times. And yes, he screams when I try to get it out
MISSYMOO Do you give Ashton the full banana or do you split it in 3?
NAGROMEYK Hey! I didn't realise you are doing BLS with Kye, or are you doing some BLS? That pudding sounds delicious. I wonder how I would do it if I don't have a bay marine? Just in a saucepan? How would I know what temp? Do you need to cover it?
I just couldn't wait to come in here & share my news with you all....
BJ now LOVES the yoghurt! How strange... I thought I'd just offer it (last night) knowing that he'll just push it away or gag on it again, but nope, he ate it, looked at me & launched for the spoon again & shoveled it in his mouth. I had to go back & load the spoon up again, then he grabbed it & shoveled it in again. He would've went back for more & more if i'd let him. I was expecting i'd need to offer it at least 10 or so times before he'd accept it, but it was only the 2nd time. This morning I put some pear & rice cereal out for him, he ate some of the cereal but wasn't interested in the pear, so I loaded up the spoon with the yoghurt again, and yep, he loved it again.
The chicken was a hit last night too. He attacked it! I thought he'd just suck on it & not much would go down, but nope, he just attacked it like an animal  Gosh, I was cracking up. It was a fairly large piece too. Thankfully his not gagging much anymore. I thought he would for sure with that chicken.
Just a question.... I know with BLS the bub will take what they want/need, but do you ever get concerned they're eating too much? I always put extra on his tray thinking alot of it will end up on the floor etc but he seems to be eating it all. I do get worried that it will interfere with his BF's but so far it seems ok. I'd love to hear your feedback:lol:
-
Georgi - yay for Byron and the yoghurt and chicken  Kye gagged on a few things for a while there, bread especially - my advice just take things slowly, some days he will like things other days he might not be too keen on it. All of sudden I have noticed things have just 'clicked' with Kye, must of been a developmental thing cause he can now eat baked beans and spaghetti on toast perfectly with no gagging  - loves it!! He's also had weetbix a few times too! :)
Yeah I've been doing BLS with Kye for a while now, he prefers it. On the odd occasion I might offer some puree stuff mainly fruit but he tends to turn away to anything on a spoon now LOL I guess that might be because he finds it boring cause he is such a 'big kid' now hahaha
He is eating yoghurt off the spoon, thinks he's so clever that he can hold the spoon and do it himself LOL
Today I am making another recipe out of that booklet - vege risotto bake, I will let you all know how it all goes :)
-
Oh my i have missed alot. I dont think i'll ever be able to catch up properly. lol.
I did read about a funny reaction to squash though. PMSL i havent tried that with charli although we have tried lemon and she made a funny face. hehe.
I did my kids aid course, it was really good, i feel much more confident now that if she choked i would be ok. i would prob still freak but atleast now i know what to do
Charli is soldiering on nicely. I am running out of ideas of what to give her though, i give her banana, cruskit with vegemite or advocado, arrowroot biscuit, she tried some grated cheese the other day and didnt mind that either. I'm not sure when i can introduce eggs either, is it yolk or white first??
Could we maybe start a list of BLS foods u give your kids???
She ate a whole banana the other day but i had to hold it for her and she ate it out of my hand, just kept pulling my hand to her mouth to eat it, was cute but my hands were so messy. lol. She also tried a lil brussel sprout, and some of my home made parma which has chicken, advocado, ham and cheese, she really liked it too :D
-
Good going by some of the babies in here!
AM - Foods I give to Jett - Everything except small hard things (like nuts because they are a choking hazard), excess sugar, excess salt, caffeine, cordials/fizzy drinks/juices and of course alcohol! Everything else he is a allowed to eat, or taste if it falls in to the excess sugar or salt category.
Eggs are fine whole from 6 months on so no need to do the separation thing unless you have a direct family allergy (ie. Mum, Dad and siblings) and that is the same with all the other allergy foods. However, it is a personal choice as there is the camp that says introducing too early causes allergy and the camp that says introducing too late causes allergy. My suggestion is to do some research and decide which option suits you.
Georgi - Jett eats heaps. And nope, I never get concerned he is eating too much. We are all born with a little trigger that tells us when we are full so we stop eating. If we eat slowly and chew properly and listen to that trigger then we wouldn't overeat. Somewhere along the way alot of us have learnt to ignore that trigger, eat quickly and not chew properly so we can and do overeat. But thankfully babies can only go by instinct. And especially with BLS they won't overeat or eat too quickly because they can see their food there, they feed themselves at their own pace and it isn't going to be taken away before they are ready. Also they aren't getting a spoon shovelled in with unknown (to them) quantities of food or shovelled in too quickly. So just watch out for the signs that they are finished which is usually some little quirk. Jett sweeps everything off his tray and starts fingerpainting, before either pushing back off the tray and crying, or pretending to be a motorbike (brrrrrrrrrrrrr). Offer them something different (just in case they have had enough of what was on offer) or even something off your plate even if it is the same thing and if they still don't want it then they are done. Don't be tempted to pick the food up and hold it up to their mouths because you are then telling them to eat a little bit more which is then going against their instinct.
HTH!
