DS has just turned 4mos, but I thought I'd start subbing. Can't wait to go down the BLS road. It wasn't an option with DD, but since DS is normal (lol) we're going to give it a go.

I'm starting to get the 'give him some farax to make him sleep' rubbish. It's really annoying. It got so out of control I had to post this on my facebook.

    A head's up, peoples.
DS is not DD. DD has special needs. DS is NORMAL.
For DS, we will NOT be introducing formula unless medically necessary.
For DS, we will NOT be introducing solids of ANY KIND before 6 months.
World Health Org doesn't recommend solids for a breastfed baby before 6 months. There is nothing that solids can do for DS that breastmilk can't. My breastmilk is
enough to sustain DS, on it's own, until his first birthday.
W.H.O also recommends breastfeeding to at least 2 years old til up to 5 years old. When DS and I end our breastfeeding relationship is competely up to him and his natural instinct, be that at 8months or 4 years old.
We will be introducing solids to DS using a method called Baby Led Solids (or Baby Led Weaning). You can google it.
Zero Solids is Zero Solids. This means, no farax, purees, rusks or even a taste. Anyone caught offering DS anything other than MY breastmilk will be severely reprimanded.
As for the myth that all babies should be sleeping through the night by 4 months, it is that exactly. A myth. 50% of toddlers/babies under 3 years old still wake in the night and need a parents help to go back to sleep.
DS has slept through more than once and is continuing to improve.
This is the way DH and I are choosing to raise DS. This is our child. Not yours to judge.
We don't want to hear anything but positive feedback on our children. Keep your opinion to yourself. We don't want to hear it.

    iPhone ate my post

I think it's all been said ... if floorboards etc, no drop sheet.

No rice cereal here, or jars etc of baby food, or squirty things of yoghurt and purees, or purees at all FWIW.

    Just normal food.

It's as messy as you've heard. Messier, in fact. But it's worth it

and I forgot to say that the dustbuster is my friend - means I don't have to get the vacuum out as often for all the crumbs!

Oh yes! Love my stick vaccuum....and my chooks (not that they are allowed inside, but they love DD2's offerings).

    Good one, char!

My family were all converts to BLS after they saw how good DD1 was with food and DD2 has just reinforced it for them. Plus, I got my sisters ABA subs, so I know they get the right info.

Our dog is our dust buster and chooks love the leftovers here too.

I give both cooked and raw veggies. No choking with either of mine on those. I just supervise or am a part of all meals and snacks.

I am holding off on honey until 12 mths though, not sure about honey soy chicken.

    OK, we're here officially now.
Little Man loves his food but I really don't knw what to feed him.

He loves rice crackers, banana, avocado, and over Christmas we gave him a few chicken bones to suck on (his favourite!)....

Basically, just whatever you're having, provided you're comfortable with him having it. So avoiding choking hazards like whole nuts and grapes (though won't be long before he can bite those suckers) and steering clear of too much salt/sugar/junk.
