We use wholemeal bread for toast. We buy our bread from the bakery, but they include nutritional info on their packaging. Still, I try not to give her too much (even now): toast for breakfast and on the days when I'm making her lunch we try to stick to leftovers or fresh meals, rather than sandwiches. Sushi is another great alternative to sandwiches/bread and one of DD's faves! And it's not that hard to make at home.

Heaven, thanks for this thread!!! I didn't really understand what BLS was really about but wanted to look into it to make things easier for myself. I now know that I did actually do this a little bit with Oskar but then steered down the road of cooking, pureeing, mashing when I didn't need to!!! Wasn't such an issue really though cos I didn't have a toddler to attend to at the same time as now I do. I thought he was being fussy but instead he was just feeling, touching, tasting. lol live and learn. I can't wait to watch Elijah investigating and discovering all of this :)
Do you just make them all bite size pieces or pieces where they need to "bite/suck/chew" bits off??
Jennifer, I love that article you have the link to... it's amazing isn't it! I linked that a while back on my FB.

Cass, you make the vegies in sticks so they can pick them up easy and bite bits off. It is going really great with DD, so fun watching her discover new foods!! Have fun!!
Check out the BLS chatter thread!
