Joski - I think that would probably work better for a boy but the outcome wouldn't be as girly - good idea though.
If you like the 'ella' what about Gabriella? Not common, but not unusual. You can call her Briella, Gabi, Brie, Ella.
Sybella is lovely. Definitely with a 'y'. I can't imagine it not being well received?!
I'm going to go for the Sibella. I just know in our families the nonni's wouldn't get the y!
Also to me sybella looks similar to syllable! Sorry!! I think it's a very pretty name
I love Sybella, I also like Sabine, Cendrine and Saskia which along similar lines.
I know a Sibellla and at first I must admit I wasn't into it but the more you say it the more you like it :) it's one of those growing on you names. I really love the name now :)
I think Sybella is a gorgeous name!
I think Stella is also pretty but perhaps a bit more common.
I think Sybella is gorgeous! I'm sure lots of people don't like the names we've given our boys (including a family friend who told my parents they had to intervene as it was 'cruel' to name a child Atticus!) but I don't care. DH and I like them and that's all that matters :)
I love Sybella!! I also love Sabine, its one on my list.
I worked with a gorgeous girl called Stella, well she was about 35- beautiful, calm and just lovely so I really love that name.
Argh - I was just getting used to Sybella again and my SIL just told my husband she isn't a fan of it (she is nice so wasn't saying it to be difficult). I told her to look up names that suit the boys' names and get back to me. I think she is struggling so far. It's not an easy job!
I usually have the attitude of "I don't care what anyone else thinks" but I really want her name to be received well, especially since she is a girl. I think I'm over thinking it all. Can't help it.

I know what you mean, I'm having huge problems finding a name that I love and one that we both agree on. DH thinks I care too much what others think but it's important as their name is for life!
Your SIL might not like the name now but perhaps when baby is born Sybella could really suit her?! I still love the name
Grr, duplicate post on phone I thought the first one didn't go through- not sure how to delete sorry.
Ok so here are some European names for a brainstorm...
Eliana or Illiana
Marcella
Sabina
Ilara
Emiliana
Lucia
Nadia
Carina
Isabella
Alesia
Giada
Lorenna
I'll see if I can think of more...if you give feedback I can tailor :)
I am sure my parents were questioned over the name they gave me. Downsides are it is difficult to pronounce and I am often mistaken for a boy on paper, or have my first and last names switched as my married last name is a more common female first name. I didn't like my name when I was younger for those reasons. The upside, I was the only one at school, and still at work with my name. I often get compliments.
Who cares what other people say, as long as you like it. My only advice is to pick a name that people won't completely mangle when they see it written. And won't confuse your girl with a boy. :)
Thanks for all your replies!
I think it's going to be Sybella/Sibella.
We actually first saw the name from that reality tv show Homemade. She was a Judge on the show and is an interior designer, a celebrity now.
Her name is Sibella Court. Just trying to decide on the 'y' or 'i' now. Ideas/opinions?
I like it with a y.
