I think this is true... I went through this same thing with naming our DS2. He ended up with the first instinct name anyway!

DD1's best friend is called Jemima, so I love it. DH's revolting cousin has a Greta so I did hate it, but then I me a beautiful local mum with a Greta so I like it again. I know what you're saying about Ramona though! It's been a loooong time. One thing to consider is that it can be used as a Latino insult, as it sort of means "tree trunk thighs" Back when I was considering it, a friend worded me up. Might not be an issue for you, but it was for me.
I looooove Henrietta. The third girl that I'm not having would be Harriet.
Still confused!
Thanks for the input. So, I can either offend the African-Americans or the Latinos? Great! I tried googling Ramona as a Latino insult though and couldn't find any references but there is a lot of stuff about Jemima as an African-American insult.
I actually prefer Harriet over Henrietta but I got on a henny-penny nickname tangent :D
Those of us who are old enough will remember a very popular book called Ramona the Pest. I can't hear Ramona without thinking PEST! Just be aware that other people may have the same mental association to that name.
ETA and someone - eventually - will go there with "Moaner"
Naww! Ramona would be her namesake! They were the first chapter books I read as a child and she was my hero. I better recall Ramona the Brave and Ramona Forever :D
We were on a road trip recently and I planned our day and detour to visit a park that has a Ramona statue in the area where the booked are based. Just about cried watching my children hug that Ramona. I'm obsessed :heartbeat:
Naw - that's great!
My Dh is Chilean, so Sth American/Latino and he has never heard Ramona used as a derogatory term! Two of his cousins are named Ramona with nick names being Moni ( pronounced Moh-nee) :) I think with any names, people will always have associations, but if you love it, then that's all that matters ;)
I honestly think that Ramona is the one.
I think it may well be. Now to make sure I'm sure on the boys name too...
Go Ramona! I think it's the right one <3
Oh and I dont know about you but i found finding a third same gender name really tough lol
We actually decided on the third boy's name before conception (though I still keep umming and ahhing!). For some reason coming back to revisit girl's names seems harder this time!
