I personally prefer Archie over Rafferty but that is just because I prefer more common names. I do think Rafferty goes better with Felix though.
Thank you lovely ladies! I'm surprised by how many of you don't actually mind the name. I expected there to be more against it, so fingers crossed this is a good omen!
I know, the baby food thing puts us off too - but then it's just a baby food brand (the name is incidentally after a baby on the packet called rafferty) so it's not the end of the world if that parallel is drawn.
Still stuck on a nickname, I know Raff / Raffy / Rafe are the obvious contenders, but I don't love them. Maybe they'll grow on me.
Any other bits of honest feedback out there, every bit helps! Thanks.
not sure if i like Rafferty but could grow on me (and it does go great with Felix) !
how about Rohan or Ronan ?
... would you believe only moments ago on another thread i suggested what a pretty name Arabella is :D
Raffy is seriously the best nickname ever. don't back down because of something silly like a baby food brand.
I'm a little bias, I have a nephew named Rafferty & I loves my little Raffy.
I'm not fussed on Archie at all.
Thanks ladies. It's still getting a very underwhelming response from friends & family, so your posts help to make me feel more confident about the name!
this is why you should never tell family and friends until after the baby is born. once he is here and he looks like a little Raffy none of them will have the balls to say anything negative to you.
just go for it, in the end he's your baby and they will all learn to live with whatever you end up calling him...and who knows, some of them may even end up liking it!
Hun we had the same issues with DH fam. We told them early on the names we were considering and got some really rude comments. We now call bub by her name at home & DH accidentally let it slip in front of his mum and she is still trying to change our minds, makes me so cross.
If you love the name & don't use it because of fam comments you may regret it. If you love it go for it. I think Rafferty is an awesome name nn Raffy. Like I said I know a little boy Raffy & he's so cute!
We had friends criticise Leo as a name. We had 4 names in our shortlist. When he was born, that was the one that suited him best. Noone said anything once he was born, though in our case you can imagine the reaction if anyone dared.
I'm a fan of waiting to see what bub looks like. You never know, he may be a George :) i still like Rafferty though.
Thank you, you're all very right - it's a mistake to share the name with anyone before the birth! We kept schtum on 'Felix' for this reason! No idea why we're so happy to share this time round?! Lesson learned..
Well husband is completely off Archie alack, so it will probably come down to Lincoln or Rafferty, to decide when we meet the little one (secretly hoping he looks more like a Rafferty!!)
xx
I'm not keen on any of them!
That said - Rafferty goes best with Felix.
Best of luck!
