FWIW I think it's just as valid suggesting Kikkoman or Rogan Josh as a name as deliberately saddling a poor child with an unpronounceable, impossible-to-spell, random grouping of vowels and consonants as a moniker.

Personally I love unique names! My favorites are celtic names.
Aeryck (Eric)
Eohmere
Kaiden
Kaidan
Aidan
Johanan
I do also like some of the names from Lord of the Rings
Aragorn
Farameir
I hope your friend finds the name she is looking for. :)
If someone asks for made up names then it seems a bit strange to complain that people are making up names.
If the OP has a problem with any of the posts she is more than welcome to contact me or any other member of the mod team or to report the posts.
I still think Kikkoman is a fantastic name.
How about Yoda? Star Wars and kind of Indian sounding - double win!
Spelling them like they would be said
Zaharley
Zaharlia
Zaharia
Fharley
Fharia
Haria
All made up so no idea if Indian or not
Chill out, man. N ote how this is part 2...
We already played this game to come up with a girl's name, the friend picked one that was completely a random string of letters so we know what we're doing, we're old hats at this.
This mad method worked once before and we were asked to do the same again, so we did. We are contributing and having fun at the same time. Win win for everyone.
If this is how someone finds a name, who are we to get in the way of the process which worked so brilliantly last time.

Even if this is part 2 (and yes i've seen the other thread) i think it refers more to someone actually asking "ïs this actually serious".
I don't think there is an issue with people having fun and making up names but i think if we suggest a name it should be for real not for the randomness of typing 20 random letters and then  at it.
How would you feel if you gave an honest name and someone came in and started laughing at joking at how silly it is?
Remember her friend isnt a member of BB and cant see the fun girls are having while tossing idea's around, which may actually result in a name !
TBH your right Lisa, there was another "joke" thread started about names, that members gave time out of their day to reply to, and I thought pffft when I bothered replying, only to find it was a joke, Thats probably why members may have asked "is this serious"
How can you call having fun "absolutly revolting", no one is being hurt, the pregnant lady isnt reading this, I think its "absolutly thoughtful" that everyone is putting in suggestions. Fun and serious ;)
Mine's a serious one -
I have a 30-odd year old friend whose names is 'Harsh'. I believe the traditional Indian spelling is Hersch.
I love it :)
When we met he had only been Australia for 1 year and his English was still coming together, but he told me he couldn't tell me his name because it was rude in English
How do you know she won't join so she can read it? and what about other people who are new and see this kind of behaviour? Do you think it's going to encourage them to post if they think they may be ridiculed for their choices?
Also, just because someone can't see that you are mocking them doesn't make it ok. Just like calling an overweight person a "fat slob" behind thier back isn't ok. (that's an example, I don't actually think like that about anyone)
That'd all I'm going to say, this wasn't the purpose of the thread and IMO it's been derailed enough already.
I'm sorry of I caused offence. Honestly. I wasn't mocking anyone or their choices, just laughing at crazy names. I'm sorry if that has upset anyone. Wasn't my intention.
.....
How about Indian city names?
Calcutta
Bombay
Dehli
DumDum
Hyderbad
Sinnar
There's a list on wiki and some of them look totally made up.
List of cities and towns in India - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
What about Tiger? There are lots of tigers in India.
or Chilli? They use chilli in Indian cooking.
And I haven't even opened my mouth yet.
Khrystyazn
Ajarmessty
I quite like the name Kendahl (sorry if I have spelt it wrong) I knew twins whos names were Kendal and Lacey they were gorgeous.
ANyways back to it.
A boy I dated when I was in high school, his name was Ragner ? (I reckon he ended up doing time personally)
I love unusual names but honestly how many actually keep them? sometimes I think parents need to remember that these are little human beings that will have to grow up correcting people with spelling and pronunciation and its very very annoying. (my name is fairly common and people STILL cannot say it or spell it correctly)
Tell your friend to buy a baby book. She can find good ones out there that have different races in it to find something more unusual. Swahili (sp?) names, Hebrew names, Celtic names would all be worth a look, just about any culture can be found in name books these days.
Just out of curitosity - has your friend ever explained why she wants something that looks impossible to pronounce? is it JUST to be different?
Why doesn't she call the kid India, that's Indian. She could spell it Indyiah.
Kikkoman is a kick arse name. It's a bit more Chinese than Indian though, wouldn't you agree?
