I've had e-mails with my name in incorrectly too: this is AFTER spelling out my name 6-7 times on the phone so the person can find my e-mailon the work system! That's just rude.

BTW, in the UK they aren't allowed to ask about your name. I find that if I mention that it's Welsh I generally get a better response at job interviews than if I don't. I've had people wonder for months about the fact I'm a Lady... but because they're my boss/supervisor, they can't ask until I am no longer their authority. Or unless someone else asks while they're around.

Thankfully, I still have more teeth than tatts, but the visible piercings are a worry... have had no experience with Legal Aid yet, but I just turned 23 so there's still time yet!!

One of the reasons we named our son Kyson was because I love the way it looks. I also loved that it was unique without being odd (like some celeb's childrens names...), and I also like the nickname of Ky :)

Since he was born I've had a couple of people ask if his name was an abbreviation of "Krystie's Son", lol, but no, it's not :lol:

Kyson was the name I was going to have for Kailaia if she had been the boy we thought she she was going to be ;) I had said to BHL that no matter if we had a boy or a girl I wanted Kai / Ky as the nic name....

Bon girl I think that would be me... I am afraid thats just coz a am a **** speller and couldnt for the life of me work out how to spell Mikayla but now that you have spelt in it make sence but I will still not know how to spell it tomorrow... :lol: but you name was just in reference to what Mayleaka ( my DD ) gets called as no-one knows how to say her name at first glance... for those who want to know it May - Lee - Ka just like its spelt ;)


Ummmm now if only I can get UTD I can come up with not only a made up name but a name so out there no one will ever be able to spell it or for that matter say it.... ;)

I'd love to share some real whoppers of names and their spellings, that have come through my door. Here's one I can share, I hope, in good faith that I don't offend anyone:

I once appeared in Court for an Intervention Order matter and the Magistrate saw the child's name on the paperwork.
He yelled at me: "That's not how you spell Rebecca!"
Me: "Uh, yes, Your Honour, that is how my client spells Rebecca."
Magistrate: "No it isn't. It has too many Y's in it."

1. I work in family law, have spent time in Children's Courts, and I've literally seen it all.
2. In my experience, the more "whacky" the names, the more likely the children are to end up in the Children's Court (whether in the welfare or criminal divisions) or the Family Court (where their parents fight over them).
3. I rarely see "normal" names in Court.

I love this when you quote when we're out and then start throwing out some of the names. I nearly wet myself!

I dislike my VERY boring common name, I am the first to have such a boring name, my mother, grandmother & greatgrandmother had amazing names (Alfreda, Betsida, Philabena), my dad had an incredible name (Gehard) and I got stuck with a boring one!

My children will have unusual names, but they won't have names common that have had "silent L's" or extra letters put in it just for the hell of it. I have an unusual heritage, so therefore my children will also have that heritage and that of their father's so that will be taken into consideration when naming happens.

Ok feel obliged to share - while living in some westen QLD towns I met some nurses who told me of some of the names that had passed through the maternity ward.

Apparently the mums heard the words while on the ward and thought they sounded pretty - not knowing the meaning behind them. The nurses did the best they could to explain why this was not an appropriate name for achild but as far as they know these little babies went home with these names - whether or not they were stopped at BD&M???

Hubby also had some dealings with a lady called Ida, last name part - of the male anatomy starting with D ending with K try saying it quickly aloud

Oh dear me. People this stupid should not be allowed to have children in the first place let alone name them. Remind anyone else of the Seinfeld episode with "Mulva".

Well, I also know someone with that very same last name D...K, whose real first name is William AKA Willy D..k. It won't be a suprise that he goes by his middle name.

I do have to confess... I've taught a Candida once - it got past BD&M and she got to high school, which I found very disturbing.

The names I love most are the ones my Pastor talks about... A family he grew up with in South Africa. Surname of Down, children were Bob, Neil and Ida. And there was the green family with their daughter Olive... There was another, but I can't recall it at this stage.

BW - I remember seeing Candida in the Baby Names book when we were expecting DD, I couldn't believe it, yep, it's an actual name, meaning 'white' -probably why the unfortunate codition we know it as came to be known by that as a shortened version. Poor girl, hope she went by Candy.
