I like it in the same name sometimes. I was a Milly Molly Mandy fan :)
I'm not a fan of anyone in the family sharing initials but I was prepared to make a concession for my girl's name as I love it so much. It starts with R and so does my name AND we would have given her my name as a middle name so she would have been RR.
Yeah that! DF is jade, his son is Jacob and this bub will be Jett If it's a boy.. Not intentional, but I like the name Jett and wouldn't not use it because it's a J name..:
I wouldn't do it deliberately, but I wouldn't shy away from using a name that really suited bub just for that reason.
Interesting about the surname issue too - I love J names but our surname starts with a J and my first name starts with a J & I don't like it
We have kind of gone with all the same initials..
It started with DH insisting that our son be called the exact name as him, which i wasnt 100% convinced about, but i let him have it.. so when DD came along i decided that we would have her name have my initials. It will confusing once they start getting mail!!!!! But i kind of like it :)
We have friends, mum & dad are B, 2 girls B and son you guessed it B!

It could happen here. DD's first and middle both start with E. There are so many E names that I love that it could happen again. Or MM.
But, as previously discussed today, I don't know if I could do first name-surname alliteration. There's a name, Adele, that I love and is meaningful to my DH. But I just don't quite know if it goes.
So that's a long way of saying that yes, I love alliteration.
My rule was couldnt start with same initial as any of us so when DS1 was born F and B were out and after he was born J was out for DS2.
DS1 is MM
I don't have any issue with it at all, there are a lot of examples of really nice sounding alliterated names

DH and all of my kids have maori middle names starting with T.
We gave our first DS the same middle name as DH and the next son we really liked another T middle name and it suited his first name so not on purpose there but from then we just decided to start the tradition.
Dont think I could do it with the first names though. I have a C and and K and the amount of times I get them confused, well just all of them in general really so imagine if they all started with the same letter arrrrrrrrrggghhhhhh I would go nut nut!

I have a friend, who had two children named B. and B. Then she married a man named B. and then had another children named B. also their last name starts with a .... You guessed it "B" ...
I find it a little weird, but a little cute at the same time.
I dont understand why people do that. The way i see it is that the letter thing stops people choosing names they really love just to stick to a "theme". Like the Duggars with all the "J" names, i honestly dont beleive all those names were picked because they were top of list names they absolutely loved, not with that many children. Obviously there will be some exceptions to the rule and i dont mean to offend anyone who has alliterated.
We had a double letter rule, but it didnt affect the names we picked, we just worked double letters into the ones that didnt have them in the traditional spelling (though most of them had double letters in them anyway and the ones that didnt we prefer the double letter spelling). I say "had" because we just broke that rule, we had a name we both absolutely loved and whatever way we tried to get double letters into the spelling it looked silly or changed the way its pronounced. We decided that it was ok to break the rule and so we did, to use the name we LOVE.
Thanks to this thread I learned something today - all these years I thought it was "i" lliteration not "a" lliteration!
My uncle and his ex were both B's, and all three children were B's. They used to sign their cards from 'The B's'.
He has a couple of children from a prior marriage who are both M's.... and their last name is M. Seems you either like it or you don't!!
I don't mind it but I wouldn't do it myself. My thing though is that all my kids have 4 letter names - easier for me to say all together instead of having names with lots of syllables.
I'm not a fan however of first name and second name initials being the same and when I was looking as names for the boys I didn't want anything with the same ending letters as their surname. So the names Owen & Euan where automatically removed as there surname is A*L*L*E*N, although Liam's name sort of has a "sing songy" feel about it.
I grew up with a family of 4 boys whose names all begin with A. Mum used to call them the "A-team" which I think is pretty cute. We've lost touch with them so I'm not sure how they feel about it as adults.
Our last name begins with D, so D first names are out for us. Just because D- D- can sound harsh. I wouldn't necessarily feel the same way if it was a different letter.
I'm not opposed to names beginning with the same letter if I really like the name, but I wouldn't do it just for the sake of it. DH's name starts with S as does my first choice for this bub - I hadn't even thought about that until reading this thread.
I like alliterative names for themselves. Peter Parker, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Otto Octavius... clearly Marvel Comics recognise there's a higher chance of having a lab accident to give you super powers if you have an alliterative name. (Guess what we've done to Liebling!)
However, my grandfather gave his first son the same name as him, bar two letters at the end of the middle name. Same initials, same first name, exceedingly similar middle names. Postal nightmare. Also family problem figuring out which one people are talking about - trickier as my grandmother has a brother with this first name, my other grandfather had this first name and an aunt also married a man with this name - and now DH has an uncle with the name. I'm all for family names (this name is DS's first middle name) but not to that extent!
I'm not ruling out other names that start with my, DH's or Liebling's initial. But we'll have different middle names at least!
My family also have a lot of repeated names but different middle names so those people are called by both names to distinguish.
Eg there are 4 Michaels, 2 Patricks etc so they're addressed by both names.
Unfortunately the original name I wanted for DS1 (Eamonn Michael) which was after my cousin (E) and the 4 Michaels was vetoed by DH because he doesn't like the reuse iofnames, thus offending my entire family :/
