We have a Mamaway shop at the shopping centre and they have one I like, plus I can try it on first.
You can use a longer wrap and one of the carries that doubles up is probably warmer, but honestly because they're tucked up close it's a lot cosier anyway.
Hi I haven't looked at this thread before but HI :) I have used a lot of different carriers for my girls and trying different things has helped me find what I like! I have an ergo and another full buckle carrier, plus size 2,4,5&6 woven wraps, I feel excessive as I'm not much of a consumer usually but I do use them (well not so much the 4). I used a stretchy wrap in the first few months.
Also I have a set of sling rings so I can make my size 2 into a ring sling when I feel like it!
I go through phases of what I like using so will have a week of using a short wrap and nothing else then don't use it for ages while I use long wraps or full buckle
Heh, DH totally doesn't get why you need different sizes. I've only just started wrapping though, so we'll see. So far I'm loving it, a lot easier than it looked when watching someone else do it.
I really need a set of rings. I've been using my woolen NWI a bit, but it doesn't feel as good as my linen Oscha. And while three is great for back carries, it's dreadful for rebozo hip!
Jade went to her new home today. ;) I felt a bit sad packing it away. But I'm getting some woven mail tomorrow and I can hardly wait! If it doesn't come early I'm going to have to wait until I come home. :(
is anybody else dealing with a chucky baby? babywearing works cos it lessens the screaming, but i get puked on all day long, urgh... no way i could even contemplate checking out some of the gorgeous wraps when he is such a puke a matic. i am using my scootababy and have just purchased a 2nd hand ergo (cos my ergo is still MIA), at least with 2 i can wash them more regularly.... urgh rough day.... ok, all good, heading to bed now. xx
can you put nappies over the side of the carrier to catch the spew?

its really tight, like..i know it should be snug..but i dont know if its too snug. She has fallen asleep in it (lucky girl, now how do i sleep? =P), also the wrap I did (only real one I know) didn't leave me with any leftover, and i had to tie it at the back rather than around the front, but it is secure.
I guess do they need any wiggle room? cause she cant move at all in it. is that good? and even with her head, its out atm.. but it seems to snug to put over the back of the head. (so i have to hold her head when i lean forward)
please throw everything at me!! am i doing it right??

ok, so first ever go, it is really tight, like she cant move a muscle in there... and with the wrap i did (the only one i really know how to) I didn't have any left over and had to tie it up at the back ( rather than bringing the knot back around to the front) I know it is meant to be snug, but how tight is too tight? she has fallen asleep in it (lucky girl...now I have to work out how I get to go to sleep). oh and her head is out atm, but it seems even too tight to tuck the back of her head in, so basically whenever I lean forward i have to hold her head (rather than the carrier doing it.)
oh and her head is right under my chin, is that too high?

she should be in firmly,yes, so she's well supported. If she's leaning or flopping, it's too loose. If she falls asleep, then that's generally a good sign! How does it feel to you? comfortable and secure?
For the head, you may find you can experiment a bit when tying to leave a small amount of slack in the wrap so you can tuck her head in. It may be easier if you do the carry with the straight bit on the inside.... um, cross carry - can't remember different names. I don't think it matters whether you tie front or back.
She should be high enough to kiss the top of her head :)
If you're careful about it, you may be able to recline on the couch with her on there....
DS wears two bibs and i have cloths everywhere but he picks the gap and aims his spew whereever i miss. I bought an Ergo and put DS in it yesterday on my back when i was cooking dinner. he fell asleep! bliss! I prefer carrying him on my back for my comfort, be even better when the spewing stops.:

T, that tight sounds right. Is it a stretchy or woven? I would pull a little more of the wrap up over my baby's bottom and back to give me some to go over her head. I do that when putting her in ITMS.

I loooove it! Barely used but so thin straight away. No breaking in really needed. Now DD2 is getting bigger I am finding the extra length a bit better than I used to (this is a six).
Lots of questions at the shops today with DD2 on my back. I gave a pg mama who was admiring JJ the other day a bwing card. Spreading the love. ;)
yay! back carrying is much easier. Wish I'd known it was possible with DS!
Yeah, wish I'd known with DD1 too, MadB. Although at least she was walking by 10 mths! Not sure what DD2 will be like as she grows, so far she doesn't even roll, so she might be more content to be worn. Wearing DD1 as a toddler was usually for containment purposes. Lol
Woo hoo! I have started experimenting with back carries.. I haven't been game to do it out of the house yet, but at home I have mastered the ruck and the double hammock, although I still need a mirror for the hammock..

Ladies what's your favourite back carry??
I mostly use a mei tai or SSC for back carrying while we're out, although I am experimenting with my first wrap and have so far tried a ruck pretty successfully at home :)
I use ruck and double hammock, ruck for quicker trips and with a shortie, double hammock for longer periods and with a 4 or 6. Are there any others that are useful (not ring sling)?

Ruck and Double hammock are the only ones I do! I've tried a few others but don't have the patience to master them. :)
