Running it through the rings can help. Wash it, then iron it while it's still damp. Sit on it in the car. If it's warm where you are (so the car gets hot) leave it in the car. It will soften up pretty quickly. I was a total noob when I got mine and didn't realise how stiff it was or that I should soften it up so it was basically pulled out of the box and used as is. It softened up heaps after the first wash and really didn't take long at all to get really soft.

Wow! My new mei tai just arrived, and it looks amazing :o I didn't realise Milky Way Blue Sky was such a beautiful deep blue, it's lovely :) I'm a little worried about the fact the waistband and straps are a little more padded than I was expecting, but we'll see how we go. I was hoping to use it for bub when s/he arrives, it does look like it might be a bit warm for summer. Definitely going to use it today with Milly to do my shop :D
I actually dreamt about it last night, and it was this awful blotchy green-purple kind of blend of colours :sick: It was halfway through the dream that I even remembered it was supposed to be blue/light blue so the rest of it was spent trying to get to a computer to complain :lol:
I just wanted to tell everyone how much I love my hug-a-bub wrap! I started using it with my second child and absolutely love it now I have a newborn. It is versatile and comfortable. Once you have learnt how to tie it once you will remember forever! I love how it wraps to your body and there is nothing better than your baby close to you! I can also breastfeed in it and there are some beautiful colours available. I highly recommend the hug-a-bub!
Teeny bit excited. Just bought my first wrap, a size 6 Neobulle. Washed it with a load of towels as soon as it arrived and can't wait to try it out!
I entered on facebook through the Baby Wearing Conference when I saw the picture on my feed after our local ABA leader commented on the photo that she has one identical (which I have been using). Which happens to be the same as the one you would win. To enter, from memory, you had to say why you love baby wearing or something like that. I'm just waiting for it to arrive in the post now :):

Sounds like fun, k4t. DD2 still loves being worn at 21 mths and if she sees the wrap out says "back, back" excitedly. I'm finding it okay to carry her in a ruck back carry in one of my most supportive wraps (linen blends usually), but I have to be careful to get the top rail nice and firm. Pretty much only wearing her on the days we walk to school. Great for my core muscles though, what with the baby starting to throw my posture (28 wks tomorrow).
Very much looking forward to wearing a new squish again in the summer!

I want to 'make' a stretchy wrap that i can use to wrap my belly to give support to my tummy and back. What length and type of fabric is best? Hoping i can get something from SPotlight/Lincraft.

Jersey cotton is the best to make a stretchy, and you'd usually need about 5m :) When I made my own, I bought 2.5m then chopped it in half widthways, sewed the ends together (making it as strong as I could) and went on my merry way :)
ETA: Okay, I just read your post again and WOW did I skip most of it :redface: ^^ That's for a proper, carrying-the-baby stretchy. I'd still recommends jersey cotton, but you probably won't need 5m of it. I actually tried to wrap my belly with my HAB just yesterday and it was way too long for what I was going for... So, can't really help on the length, but Jersey cotton :)

I don't remember exactly, but my head wants me to say $14/m? Don't trust me on that though...
works out more expensive than buying 2nd hand hab or maybe even a woven. will check spotlight out but maybe eBay it is
