Do you do it?

I don't leave my DD in the car, no. I was pretty tempted the other day, running in to an office to pick up some keys, then running out, but didn't.

I don't get petrol, my husband does it when he uses the car. We don't drive much, we're still on the same tank we started 2012 with.

BUT... I do leave my baby sleeping in her bed while I go to the shop next door, which is a similar thing. Only that nobody can steal our house and drive off with it, she probably won't overheat, and is not visible from the street.

I live on a busy road and parking is only on a side street. I HAVE to leave one child in the car often because it's difficult and dangerous to get into the house with both of them. It dd is asleep I will leave her and take ds inside and lock him in the house and go back for dd but now he is mobile he is safer left strapped in the car while I carry in dd and go back for him (less than a minute). it majorly sucks and it means I rarely use the car.

I haven't left ds in the car for the kindy pick up but if he was asleep I'd consider it!

I think the 'line' for me is that I wouldn't leave her anywhere I couldn't see her. I wouldn't be able to see her when doing a kinder drop-off so that's a no-no for me. I try to get petrol at a time when I don't have the kids but if I do, there's no way I'm getting them out of the car. The petrol station has automatic doors and I can't carry DD2 for very long. She's safer in the car than risking taking my eye off her for a second if I have to put her down (dodgy back) and her wandering out. We drive a lot and often a sleep in the car will be her only sleep of the day so if we get back and she's asleep, I leave her in the driveway in the car. We're in a rural area, our driveway is very long, I can see her from the lounge room and no-one can see her from the street. I did feel funny about that at first but waking her up prematurely and not being able to get her back to sleep is a nightmare too.

If I can't see them at all times then I don't leave them. As tempting as it is I would rather wake DS for kinder pickup/dropoff rather than leave him as I can't see the car from inside kinder. Not only is it a safety issue to leave him but I also think that if he woke up and found me gone he would be scared and probably start crying/screaming, even if I was only gone 2mins lol!
If my DS happens to be asleep I will often ask another mother to bring my DD out from kinder so I can stay in the car with DS and I do the same for her as well if her little one is sleeping.

No, I never leave mine in the car. I might if I had to get petrol though but I get DH to get it coz it's such a hassle.
