Gaining too much weight???

I know I know in my head i am telling myself don't be stupid he is breastfed and really healthy i should not be worrying
BUT!!!

My ds is 8weeks old today and he had his immunisations and my Dr told me we need to make sure he doesn't keep gaining too much weight as he is over the 97 percentile for his age. He weighs 6.945kg which is 15p 5oz. He was born 9pd 4oz.
I am not feeding him all day by anymeans he is a good sleeper. He only wakes once at night for a feed and its almost morning anyway!! My first son was a chubby baby as well but i was never told that we should keep an eye on him because of it.
I looked in the red baby book we have and it says that an average 5 month old it that heavy and he is only 2 months old!!!!
So should i be worried?
Can this be symptoms for something else??

Load of crap!! I think its an utterly stupid suggestion by anyone, especially a doctor or midwife, that babies fed breastmilk can be overfed.

I was asked the same question at my sons 2 week check up - he was born 4150g and is now over 5kg. After I told them I feed only every 3 hours and 1 side, that shut them up!!

Your doing a wonderful job if he weighs just under 7kg, thats about 400g a week if I'm correct - not too much at all!! My brother did the same and is now 6 foot 4 and playing AFL ~ perhaps you have one in the making!!!!!

You can't overfeed a bf baby. Make it very clear to them that you aren't giving solids as they are possibly thinking that too. There probably some info you could take with you next time. I will look up my sons weight he was over 97th centime for ages. Then he dropped off suddenly and they started implying FTT. You can't win with some people

You must have some amazing milk there!! Good job babe. Some babies are just chubbier than others, hence the stupid freakin percentiles. He's just storing it up for a good growth spurt or for when he's running around. Enjoy those gorgeous rolls and be proud of how well you are nourishing him

Fwiw I was at the other end of the scale. It effing sucks. I wish they'd never created those percentile graphs

I cant believe they told u that, like others said I thought bf babies cant get fat, at least thats what i was told. Bubs will only take what he needs. R u or your hubby big ppl (tall etc) its probably that he is just going to be big. My bubs is at the 10th percentile but im only little (apart form the baby weight lol) so shes just going to be little like me.

He sounds happy and healthy and your doing a great job and i agree with pp stupid percentile charts lol.

Hun you are doing an awesome job!!! Don't listen to them!! Geezzz they make it so hard for us mums - my DS is a skinny minny and I BF him till 14 months (self weaned) but he was always skinny and the clinic nurse was going to refer me to a 'feeding clinic' for solids because he was skinny!!! I am tall and skinny!! He is 3yrs old and weighs 15kg.... But DD is my chubba bubba and BF too!! She is 1 year old and weighs 10kgs!!! And all the comments I got about her being chubby is insulting!!

So you get grief if they are skinny minnies and if they are chubba bubbas ...can't win

Neither my DH or myself are big people.

My first DS was a chubby bubby too and i just looked at his records and he weighed 6.7kg at the same age, so i am not too worried now!!!

My DD is a skinny minny and was never very big. So i guess he is just meant to be a chubby bubby!!! I first DS is skinny now so i know it all falls off them by the time they start moving around!!
