Highchairs..?

Belfie Ds is 7 months old and still not sitting unsupported for more than a few seconds.

We've got the ikea one and love it. Yeah - it's not the most fashionable thing out there, but it's darn well the cheapest and most practical!

The insert is only $5 and you can blow it up as much as you need - even if it's only a little bit. We had DS in it (with the blow-up insert) from around 6 months - and he couldn't sit independently yet. That's what the insert's for! Trust me - it helped heaps!

I'd look around and see if you can try some out first (friends, in shops, restaurants, etc) to see what might suit you.

P.S. - DS hasn't tried to climb out - but I agree that he *could* if you didn't have the straps at the right setting...

Yes - i love the recline feature cos I put them in it from around 4 months and sat bubs with us when we were having dinner - good now as we all sit at the table and bubs is next to us at eye level - enjoyable for everyone

No - bubs prob wont be sitting indepently at 6 months totally, so IMO a slight recline is good - also depends on how you are going to introduce solids too i think

Bugger about the height of the tray though - i have found that the tray when on it too high for bubs until around 12 months ie - they cant sit over the tray if you know what I mean? For that reason, if i had of known I would not have bought this model. We had ours before #1 arrived - at least you can take X with you to try it out!

Mine also drops down too so when kids are at their little table outside doing playdough or whatever - i drop the seat and put the highchair with them and he loves to watch - I love my rocker but it means always on the ground!

Another fan of the IKEA one here. WE use it for DD with the insert because she still can't sit up properly yet - keeps falling to one side.. LOL

But we have no issues with it for her. We did use it for DS and yes, he did climb out of it. He's a serious climber - and absolutely HATED using a high chair - so we got him a set of table and chairs and he's fine now.

We have one of those fancy type chairs. I have the harness as tight as possible and Em climbs out. She stays in the Ikea one when she sits in it at the shops though. The waist strap can adjust tigher than many of the ones on the fancier chairs.

I have for my dd the fisher and price space saver, it goes ontop of a normal chair or can be used on the ground, reclines to 2 postions and tray is good height even for my 7 month old. I have always used simple high chairs but have no space for a seperate one this time so, this was it and love it. My other chairs never reclined so ended up feeding my eldest two in the bouncer till they could sit up with out falling to the side, definietly like the recline and support of this one.

We have the Jane activa combo high chair.

It has a 5 point harness, the chair is removable so you can take just the chair and the tray with you.

It is a fully reclining chair, and it all turns into a table and chair set when baby gets older, so its not just a high chair its a highchair that turns into a low-chair and then into a play table.

it has a removable padded seat cover which the straps are attached to and you just throw it in the wash and it doesn't take long to dry.

it doesn't have wheels, but the shape and the material its made out of makes it extremely easy to move around. It is very sturdy (not like the ones with very thin metal poles for legs). The tray is removable and we also have the extra part that sits on the tray with a drink holder on it.

I can't praise it enough actually! i definately wouldn't use anything else other than this chair, and its value for money too, because once your baby is too old for the high chair part, you can just use it for a table and chair set, simlpy remove the chair from the base, turn the base the other way and presto you have a table and chair.

we use the recline part of the seat because ds likes to sit back and relax while eating (not straight up, he looks soo uncomfortable like that)

I also have one of those ones that attach to a normal dining chair, a safety first one i think. (its at my mums house for when ds goes there) and imo i honestly feel very uncomfortable when ds sits in it as it only has a 3 point harness and is very slippery cause it doesn't have a cover and he barely fits in it and he is only 15 months old.

I brought the Kmart $69 dollar one. I didn't see the point in getting a super exxy one when he is only going to use it until he can sit at the kiddy table with the boys in about 6-8 months.
