keeping babys room cool during summer

I've just bought a new monitor that shows my sons room temperature and it's at 25/26 degrees. I only noticed because the thing started beeping at me!
What temp should his room be? And how can I cool it down? I've got our split systems on low but it doesn't seem to be cooling his room down...
I don't want him to overheat or freeze - poor little munchkin...

I'm not sure, I think thats prolly our rooms too in summer. Our upstairs is terrible, on hot days it gets up to 39 degrees up there and we have those portable air cons in there rooms which helps but seeing how hot it begins with i dont think they're powerful enough to get it too low.
I just cover them up with a sheet so to not get a chill from the air con and not too hot.

I like to keep Moo's room at about 19 degrees. If it gets to 20 I'll put the fan on. Not point it directly at him, but in the middle facing away so the cool air kinda blows around the room ITMS.

My Dd's room is that temp right now but we have the vaporiser on which I think makes the thermometer a bit hotter. She's wearing a singlet and a wondersuit as well and has 1 blanket on. My DD prefers to be a bit warmer, I was pretty hesitant because I read that the recommended room temp is 18 degrees!! We generally keep it around 22 - 23 with the same clothes on and a couple of light blankets and she sleeps perfectly and doesn't stir all night.

We set our air cons on 25 which is perfect in summer. Anything above that is just way too hot. So the a/c isn't cooling down when you change the temp? Maybe get it looked at.

I think around the 24 is ok. There is a "perfect" suggested temp but can't think what it is right now. I find the 24 ok though cos otherwise it's too chilly IMO. If it's really hot I leave the a/c on but if it's not I turn it on to cool the room then just leave the ceiling fan on all night. Oskar just sleeps in pj's uncovered cos he kicks the covers off but Elijah still has a grobag on and depending on the temp to which one I use.

I never knew there was a reccommended room temperature for babies. It's 26 degrees in the room now she napping in Ijust figure take off layers if its warmer, and open windows, put on fans etc

Yep I figure in a WA summer I'm going to be battling to keep her room as cool as the low 20's, I'm happy if I can keep it round 25/26 and dress accordingly. Short of putting refridgerated air con in her room (we have evap) I won't be able to keep it down, and I don't particularly want her to sleep in a cool room then come out in to a hotter house, that makes me all funky in summer so I wouldn't want to do it to her. Hope that makes sense!

We do the same. Children survive in warm climates all around the world. We don't have air-con or a thermometer in the bedroom. We just strip off layers, use fans, open windows and close the curtains plus outside blinds when it gets hot.

I have never worried about the exact temp in the boys' rooms. It is probably low 20s at night but summer days it would definitely be hotter than that. We don't have aircon, just ceiling fans, and I have no intention of getting air con. I just keep them dressed in a similar fashion to what keeps me comfortable when it is hot and have the fans on the speed I need them and they have always been fine.

This is from the Ergon Energy website:
The most comfortable and energy-efficient temperature setting for summer air conditioning is 25°C. Dropping a degree or two could turn up the heat on your power bill.
