Definately see the Dr....I'm thinking ear infection possibly - especially if she's just had a cold...
All the best!
When is this going to end!!!!!!
Been to he dr...no ear infection... as sad as it is... i was kinda hoping it might have been, it would give me an explaination as to why she is doing this!!!!
I'm going INSANE!!! I've only JUST put her back for the 7th time tonight already.
the dr suggested it was jsut a phase she is going through..well damn it... if shes such an expert at getting her back to sleep.. come and spend a night at my house!
GRRRR
Oh Jen, I am really feeling for you  My DD went through the same thing a few different times where she would have a great sleep routine and then all of a sudden she stopped sleeping.
I'm not sure that there is much advice that I can give you but I will try. When DD was very young (7 weeks) she hadn't slept at night pretty much since she was born so we took her to a sleep school and they taught us how to use the Tweedle method (it follows the book Sleep Right, Sleep Tight). It worked great for about a month until she started being awake all night every night again. We had to just go back to the sleep program (not the school itself just the methods they used) and start all over again. Every time she stopped sleeping at night, we just went back to the sleep program. The program changes slightly as babies get older so we adapted what we were doing to her age. Eventually she started sleeping at night again.
I think I liked having a book to refer to because it made me feel empowered - like I knew what I was doing and gave me some strategies to work with. I am a very systematic person though and enjoy routine so this sort of thing worked well for me, DH and DD.
It is a form of controlled comforting and I am not sure if this is something you want to try:
- Up to 6 months of age, they cry for 30 secs before you go in and commence the settling technique for up to 20 mins. At 20 mins get them up and wait for tired signs before starting again
-6 - 12 months old leave them for 30 secs before commencing settling technique for 20 mins, then leave them 2 mins before commencing again, then 4 mins, then 6 mins
I'm not sure if this is the sort of info you are after.
I can completely empathsize with you and I really hope that your DD gives you a break and starts sleeping at night for you soon
And yay for her not being sick (even though it would have been nice for you to have some reason behind her current sleep issues).
No ear infection? I was sure you were going to report that she had one!
I'm thinking maybe she is soooo overtired now (as are you) that she needs more help than normal to settle herself. How long has it been like this now? Coming up to two weeks? I think that is longer than I would expect for it to be a "stage" due to wonder weeks or similar.
I don't know how you feel about controlled crying but if it were me I would be doing the things that TG has suggested. I think she has developed a new routine for herself that involves YOU doing the settling, not herself, and maybe she needs to relearn those things.
Any way you choose to do it, I'm wishing you luck and hoping it works soon.
yep. Going to try and vary it a little.
I was and still am doing the one where i go in, don't make eye contact, don't talk to her lay her back down leave my hand on her back for a min then walk back out.
That was working great before all this started. So hoping if i perserve we can get back to that again.
If i can;t get this working i might think about a different version of it.
UPDATE!!!!
YAY...12 straight hours last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no whinging, no wanting bottles, no wanting dummy NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEE HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats! thats so fantastic! :D bet you feel great, hope you have a good day!
I'm so glad that she finally had a settled and prolonged sleep!!! Babies really do have a mind of their own ;)
Hope you got some good sleep in yourself and that she keeps it up for you :).
YAYYY That's great news.
I bet you feel like a different person today after all that rest! Hope you did get all that rest - you probably needed a good catch up.
Did you stay up thinking she was going to wake at any moment? I think I did that LOL
LOL.
I was in bed at 7.30 cause i was so tired.
DF put her to bed...he had her in her sleep bag (which i did) and mittens on her with 3 dummies in the cot and a bottle and he made her bed so she couldn't get the sheet/blanket out and roll all around the cot.
fingers crossed for tonight :)
