I fed DS until he was 2 and 1/2 and towards the end it was mostly night feeding and don't seem to have any problems with DS teeth. So I don't think your night feeding is the cause of the problem. Goodluck finding a solution... can I dentist clean the plaque stuff?
Yeah I really don't think his night nursing is a problem either. Dentists can definitely clean plaque but I doubt DS would tolerate it at his age. I'm going to find some butter oil and fermented cod liver oil and pray!

it could very well be tartar rooey, which is calcified plaque, some people no matter what you do are prone to it, check the inside of his lower bottom teeth, is there brown stuff there too?
There doesn't seem to be. I hope it's just plaque.

The best fermented cod liver oil is the Blue Ice brand (most others are not fermented and are just modern ruined, unhealthy cod liver oil). The only places I know of that sell it in Australia are greenpastures and nourishingecology. It's really foul stuff- we have to syringe it in for our son so we get the liquid and not the gel blend for him. Otherwise the next best choice is Melrose cod liver oil which you can buy in shops.
I meant to say the night nursing is not a problem either. Such a myth created around the fact that people think formula feeding and breastfeeding are comparable. The issue with sleeping and feeding comes from bottles being left in children's mouths when they are asleep. The bottle keeps dripping milk in and the saliva levels go down while asleep so the teeth start to rot. If a baby falls asleep while breastfeeding and the nipple stays in their mouth the milk doesn't keep dripping as they need to suck to bring the milk down so the same issue doesn't occur.
All my kids have good teeth apart from the 4 year old, who is one step away from having the front to taken out :o
She has the same diet.
The dentist said that her addiction the citrus fruits hasn't helped, she loves oranges and mandarins
Ok, Blue Ice fclo/butter oil ordered! I'm going to take it as well, there's gotta be some benefit passed on in my milk as well?

Rooey5 I feel your pain!
DD2 has two of her front top teeth gone. Not the front two, but the two next to those two. started off with a bit of discolouration and now they are both virtually gone. We've seen a ped dentist who gave us some tooth hardening mousse. The first dentist blamed it on breastmilk, the second and third dentists blamed it on her diet. With all three I laughed when they gave me their reasons. Firstly I know breastmilk was unlikely to cause such damage, secondly our diet is really good, the girls dont drink lots of juice, they dont have soft drink or junk food that often if at all and we mainly eat healthy foods. Also I brush their teeth at least twice a day (my girls are freaks they absolutely love brushing their teeth and will brush them at every opportunity.
That been said, Dh has a really bad family history with teeth, and it seems DD2 got his genes there. And I was really sick when about the same time in pregnancy as to when teeth form, and apparently this is being shown to be huge in how healthy teeth are in young ones.
And now Im off to research butter oil :D
How are you going? Has your FCLO arrived yet?
It has, it's gross lol. I'm having half a teaspoon a day (it's a butter oil/fclo blend) plus some coconut oil, and Dude is having a quarter teaspoon. Hopefully it helps his teeth!

It's foul!
I float mine in some water in a shot glass and skull it back so that I can't even taste it :)
Lol that's what I do, too! How do you give it to your kids? Dude's 19 months so he can't really shot it, at the moment he has it off a teaspoon with jam.

my 11 month old happily eats it straight off a spoon but my 3,5 yo would just spit it out. We tried rubbing on his bum at nappy change but decided it was important so we got the liquid and I combine it in a syringe with butter oil and squirt it in his mouth. He has a piece of apple (his favourite food) straight after.
If he likes it with jam then go for it! I'd use 100% fruit jam though.
