Treating cradle cap

or mix BiCrabsoda & awater inot a paste rub it onto his scalp let it dry & then wash off in bath, all will be gone!

I put a little apricot kernal oil in every bath for DD's skin and a side effect was that her hair was left just ever so slightly oily and her scalp cleared up in a day or two and hasn't been back since (not sure if it would work on baldy babes)

My DH has had CC for so many weeks. We soak her head in QV Oil, then wash her hair. It seems to come off, then the next day her head is all scaly and dry looking.

Does anyone out there have a sure thing cure? If you can give me a step by step guide to getting rid of it I will be in debt to you! I am so over it and having her hair / head look so yucky and smelly when it gets crusts!!!

I tried Olive Oil and that didn't work either, that was a few weeks ago, maybe I should give it another go today.
She is up now, playing with DH. Do I put it on her now, then wash it off tonight? Then do I put it back on before she goes to bed? Its so confusing!!!

Hi Flossie - If I was you I would put it on now and let it soak in and repeat as much as possible and exfoliate off what you can as it softens. I imagine it can get pretty messy though so I guess you could line her cot with an old towel or sheet to protect the bedding. Good luck.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as DS has just started to get this and it is yucky. A friend of mine used Paw Paw cream but I haven't tried it myself so I can say if it works.

Flossie, if you google MooGoo you will find your miracle! Its called MooGoo Infant Scalp Cream and you need to order online as it comes from WA. It is amazing stuff. After about 3-4 applications, Marley's cradle cap disappeared, never to appear again. It smells lovely, rubs in well and is not greasy. I tried every remedy and nothing worked. My lovely June Baby Buddies got me onto it and many of us used it with great success. Good luck! :)

Actualley Flossie if you PM your address I will send you the jar I bought for DD as I only needed such a tiny bit and the rest is just sitting there. Plus I live in WA and it is readily available in the chemists etc here.

I used sweet almond oil on DS's head, it seems to have helped. When I bath him, I rub his head lightly with the flannel, then when I massage him I put it on his head as well. My friend used sorbelene to get rid of her daughters cradle cap, worked a treat!!

I used sorbolene with mine too.

Flossie, Toby had cradle cap pretty bad and someone else on here mentioned Bepanthen cream. I got some and used it that morn and left it on all day and then washed his hair in the bath at night and also gave it a good massage with the flannel too... and it all came off and he's had none ever since!!

So maybe try that..It worked for us!!

With the olive oil it's a good idea if you can put some in the bath every day, then maybe use some on a muslin cloth to exfoliate the crusts off. That's what worked for us! Though it did take longer than that MooGoo stuff, it sounds like that's worth a try!

The thing Iwas recommended & is natural & safe etc...
put Bicarb soda in a bowl add water to make a thick paste rub it on bub's head nice & thick, leave for an hour or so to dry, then wash off in the bath, then brush bub's hair or if bald (tee hee) rub & do again the next day... This should remove all CC.

I only bath my babies in bicarb soda & they have all got beautiful soft skin, if you dont believe me, try it & feel your hands, super soft!

Vaseline! I used it on my 8 year old when he was a bub and am now using it on my 3 month old. Same as other suggestions - apply before bed, and wash off next morning. Use a baby comb or washcloth to gently lift it off. Depending on how much bub has you might need to do a couple of treatments. But it really does work. Inexpensive too. Good luck!

I've heard that using vaseline/sorbelene in that way works well, just haven't tried it myself.

I marinate Pip in olive oil for about a half hour before his bath - it keeps it well under control.

The bicarb rubbed into the scalp is great to lift it off if you miss a few days too :D

tracey - how much bi-carb and water do you use to make this paste??
