Vent: The Most Exhausting Part of Raising a Toddler...

Ok, I wasn't going to post this. But here goes.

Yesterday, DS2 went to day care in his PJs. He didn't want to get dressed, nothing was going to convince him. He was quite happy to go off in pajamas, so he did! I took some clothes for him, and apparently he changed into them himself at about 10am. If you'd asked me before I had kids would I ever do that, I'll bet I'd have said no. But you know what - it was better than holding him down and forcing clothes on a kicking and screaming 2 yo. And he would only have pulled them off again anyway!

So I feel your pain. At least they do grow out of it!

For me the most exhausting part is toilet training. If it was part of the national curriculum, I would say DS#1 is running on a D-average at the moment.

Oh the poo. Oh the wees. Oh the wet bed sheets.

He is so obsessed with what is in his pants I occasionally worry he will end up touring the country in "Puppetry of the Pen!s" LOL!

DS is a challenge intermittently and getting him to do it himself is helping (put his head through the shirt for him and he does the arms etc) and distraction!!!!!! More nappy changes occur on the floor in front of the TV or with a toy / DVD in hand.

As for the going out in jammies - whatever works sounds good to me!!! Even a Superman suit if necessary ;)

For DS's eczema cream, I ask him to help me. He grabs a handful and smears it around himself while I put as much back in the pot as I can and rub bits in. I don't know how long this helpful phase lasts but it's worth encouraging and harnessing!

I am the essence of tranquility today ;) No battles. And yes, Manta, my DS came to the shops (Melbourne Central) in his PJs today (we just got home) ... but he did allow me to put a coat over them. And all was good. If he is still wearing them tonight at bedtime then so be it!

I often take Darcy out in her jammies too (or to CC MR :))...sometimes I wish I could too....besides jammies are often more appropriate than the bikini she wants to wear....

LOL - especially at this time of year :o

Harry isnt so bad with the dressing - so long as he WANTS to be dressed at this point in time. Soon as the clothes are not a necessity, they come straight off. We go out, do the shopping, get home - in the middle of packing away the groceries and a little skin and white streak goes flying through the house. Generally I think toddlers just hate clothes. They are both unencumbered without them - and wont make mum upset by getting them dirty!
