I must say I'm really happy to see there are others like me who have little ones who are 2 or so still in the same room :) I have plenty of comments from people about how I have to move him out soon or he'll still be there when he's 21... as if! However, we all like it just the way it is for now. It's very cute (most of the time) when Oskar wakes up in the morning and peeks over the top of the cot to see if I'm awake..lol.

Hi,
Ds was in his bassinet in our room for the first 5 months (until he outgrew it) We then moved him to his cot in his own room, which is right next to our room so no problems with stumbling down the hall in the middle of the night. i was very worried the first few nights, but he actually started sleeping better, and he was fine. i'm really glad we decided to do it.
All the best.

Brendan was in our room until he was 14 months. We lived in small houses, so there was no room for him to have his own room. At 14 months we moved into a bigger house and he got his own room because his cot wouldn't fit in our room.

M slept in our room in a bassinet until she was too big for it (about 5 months). I would have put her cot in our room but it didn't fit. I found it difficult to move her to her own room. I loved having her nearby and I thought I would find it harder to hear her and it would be annoying walking down the hall to her. The first night I missed her terribly, but after that I was OK because everything was fine. In fact I realised I slept better without her in the room. Also she sleeps better in her own room - I think our sounds might have been waking her up.

We just moved DD 2 weeks ago, and its been the best move for us all. DH is a very light sleeper and I realised DD takes after him, because we would all wake up to each other's snores and shuffles.
We loved having her in the room, and I missed her a lot the first few nights, but we all sleep better with her in the other room. Now I only get up to her once, and I realise I was feeding her all through the night just to keep her quiet...
I hope the next baby is a heavy sleeper, because I miss having a baby in the room already.

moving on out!
Given that our bundle was over 10lb born, he only lasted 5 WEEKS in his basinette (in our room). We moved him into his cott in his own room at the other end of the house. Would feed him at 10 or 11pm, then make the journey back down the hallway at about 4am for a feed. :wall::asleep:
This went on for the first year, until he slept through. Thinking back, I would have put that rocking chair in the room (never got around to it). We all slept better (much more room for him to roll around - no more banging on the sides:)
An early move compared to others, but it worked for us and him :)
