 for you and Tehya. My MIL's Hubby had this and I'm happy to say it rectified with time. The best thing is to get the treatment started and I'm sure you'll see improvement quickly. My MIL's Hubby is 100% again.

Thanks so much Spring. So was she on steroids too do you know ?
Oh Trish, what a shake-up for you. Hope you're managing ok and that Tehya in happy to comply with treatment. It's my understanding that although it's often hard to figure out why it's happening or even to treat it consistently, Bell's Palsy resolves itself in a matter or weeks or months in almost all who get it and that prognosis for children is great.
Good on you for taking note and taking action. I'm sure she'll be back to her old self in no time.
HUGS and a big Happy Christmas to you and your family.
That is scary! I'm so glad you trusted your mummy instinct and got her checked. If she gets worse, take her to a children's hospital, they have paeds on staff who will be around over Christmas and demand help NOW.
Thanks girls.
I am so scared that when we go back tomorrow he will want her in hospital. I don't want my baby missing out on Christmas morning. I don't want her to wake up in a bloody hospital bed. DP thinks I am being unreasonable by saying that I will keep her here until Thurs arvo.
Perhaps I am... I don't know. Just confused atm I guess.
Why would they put her in hossy?
I'm not sure Trish. I can try to find out.
All I know is that it basically just resolved itself with time and I think it was only a month or so.
Tanya, apparently she will need some injections. And these have to be done at the hosp.
I'm not 100% sure. And then the Dr wants to do a whole heap of tests.
Thanks Spring
Big big  Trish. I'm so sorry to hear this. If you need me give me a call.
 this is awful news Trish, if you are worried about using steroids without a definite answer could you take her to the hospital for a 2nd opinion, they would have to have a pead on call that could come & see her?? Hope things improve for you
Trish, I'm so sorry for Tehya, poor little girl
I think Bells Palsy is one of those things where it resolves MUCH faster if treated effectively, quickly. I'm sure that's why they're being cautious. My uncle had Bells Palsy a few years ago, it took him ages to recover, and it was quite unpleasant for him, but it was some time before he was diagnosed and treated. I'd second the idea that if you're concerned in any way to head for your ED, they will have a paed who can see her. Better yet, go to the Children's hossy. That way you know she's in the best possible hands. That's just what I'd do though. I totally get you wanting her home for Christmas , but try not to let that feeling override any concerns you have for her health (hard as it may be).
I hope whatever it is, it is resolved quickly and painlessly for Tehya.
Hope you get into the Paed soon Trish and hope the steroids work
Hope she has improved this morning. So scary for you all.
Thanks again girls. Tehya still isn't awake yet so I've no idea if there has been any change in her yet.
I do know that when she went to bed lastnight she was no better.
I uploaded some pics of her "crooked smile" to my FB page if you want to see. Trisha Cook's Photos - Tehya's crooked smile :( | Facebook
Trish, I've been following this thread. I wanted to wish Tehya and your family a very merry Christmas. I hope she is starting to get better, the poor little lamb. It must be very scary for you, but Im sure she will be better very soon. I do hope you get to have a wonderful Christmas with your family. xoxoxoxoxo
Thank you so very much. Tehya is having a very excited and happy morning. I'm sure we will all crash and burn soon. Poor Santa didn't get to bed until 2am then up by 6. YAWN.
We are back to the Dr's on Tuesday and are still trying to get in to see a Paed as soon as we can.
Wow Trish, I sure hope you are all home enjoying Christmas day in your lounge room.
Just looking at the facebook pics. Its pretty full on hey.
