Oh good lord, who suggested 'Love you forever'?? I had to google it too and now I'm bloody crying and it's not even 9am!!
I love the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo's Child... so much fun to read and my kids get really into it. My Mum, by Anthony Brown is great for younger kids. He also writes My Dad, but hey, let's talk mum up, not dad. I Love You to the Moon and Back is beautiful, can't remember the author. In fact can't remember if that's the title or just what we call it!! I'd go and find it to check for you but I can't see for all the bloody tears in my eyes over that Munsch book!!!
You guys ever watch Friends? Joey did a reading of Love You Forever to Rachel and Ross's baby, Emma. So beautiful.
My all time favourite is The Polar Express. Loved it since I was a little girl. Haven't been brave enough to see the film. Always loved The Eleventh Hour too by Graeme Base.
DD's favourite is The Terrible Plop. Her eyes light up whenever I get it out to read to her.
Can't name just one Telly. :p
Current Favorite is The Gruffalo, although DS is going on about the Fox's underpants due to my step-Dad's misreading of it. DS went to see a play of The Gruffalo's Child couple of weeks ago so I'm looking for that book.
I love reading The Cat in the Hat, DH hates reading Dr Suess, he gets tounge tied. I'll have to look for Oh the places you will go.
Uno's Garden, Is your Grandmother a Goanna, Green Sheep, and about a thousand more.
Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge makes me cry too so I don't read it very often.
I don't have an absolute fave, but love Aussie books like Possum Magic, Edward the Emu and Diary of a Wombat. All beautiful book and so many more! :)
Oh and I love reading 'Ten little fingers and ten little toes' to my girls, just so cute.
Another "Ten little fingers and ten little toes" fan here. DD loves looking at the pictures of the babies.
Guess how much I love you and We're going on a bear hunt.
A lovely classic story is the Velveteen Rabbit.
Winnie the Pooh (box set), my DH read the whole series to my DS1, it was a bedtime routine and DS1 loved it when he was a toddler.
Does anyone remember the name of the book about the Chinese Brothers?
ten little fingers and toes is a favourite here.
There was a program on ABC2 called bookaboo that had some fantastic books on it but I can't remember any of the names. A couple of stand outs include little red riding hood from the wolf's perspective and one about a farting little boy. Excellent ones.
ETA: found the websites, some of the good books were:
Pooh Is That You Bertie by David Roberts
That Rabbit Belongs to Emily Brown
by Cressida Cowell & Neal Layton
Splat the Cat
by Rob Scotton
The Cow That Laid an Egg
by Andy Cutbill & Russell Ayto
Grill Pan Eddy
by Jeanne Willis & Tony Ross A great rhyming one
The Wolf's Story: What Really Happened to Little Red Riding Hood
by Toby Forward & Izhar Cohen
for the chinese borthers one, I was going to suggest "rikitikitango"...that is a good rhythm read aloud.
Another great read aloud is :have you seen my potty?
by i like "the mole who knew it was none of his business" crack up!

Yeah, one of them had a metal neck or something so he could have his head cut off, and the others all had other things too... pmsl Helpful much?
ETA: Googled and yep The Five Chinese Brothers! lol Thank you! It has been doing my head in for years.
Totally love Strega Nona too!
Where Is The Green Sheep :) was given to us as a gift and it's just so cute! Can't wait until DD can actually understand when we read it, ha ha.
Oh my gosh favourite children's books well having worked in childcare for some time now I have to many, but I must say I love the ones where you can really add something to the story by using voices etc, A lot have been mentioned some of my fav's are:
The Gruffallo
